There are a few things that I would like the general public here to know about www.hardfolding.com.

First: King has worked tirelessly on the site especially in that last few months. He, like all of us, is a volunteer for the cause. That being said, show some respect. If you don't like the site, suck it up. He is not here to change the site to appease our every whim. If, on the hand, you have a suggestion to make improvements to the site, perhaps a tactful PM to King is more appropriate than a public bashing. Just my $.02. :)

Second: There is a reason that www.hardfolding.com exists. It is our team/stats site. Kyle graciously gives us webspace and bandwith to use for this purpose. If we stop using it, or traffic takes a sharp down-trend, we may lose the site. So, for the sake of preserving our team site, please use it. If you prefer to use EOC or some other site in conjuction, please feel free. Just keep in mind what I have just said.

I don't mind open discussion about the team, HF.com, projects and the like, but rude and inconsiderate posts will be deleted everytime. Some feel that a heated discussion is the only way to effect change. You're wrong. Please refrain from posts of that nature.

I am going to leave this thread open for comments as I am sure that some of you may have questions or suggestions. Please feel free.

I will open my mouth.. since some of you think that is all I am good for here...

Also, keep in mind, about hardfolding.com, or any other team topic,
that we ARE a team, and we are working to the common goal of
finding a cure to things that have killed our family, friends, loved-ones,
co-workers, or the nameless faces we have never met.

Before you click the "Submit Reply", take a moment and ask
yourself if what you are about to add makes a difference in the
overall goal: The Cure.

We are all here for each other when times are good or bad,
almost like a second family. Maybe for some, this is the
only family that you have. Thus saying, sometimes there are
"Family Matters" to discuss, but take the time to treat others
with respect, as you yourself, would like to be treated.

Well said guys.

King, I visit Hardfolding.com frequently to monitor my progress and read up on news and announcements. I really appreciate the time and effort that you put forth for the team and most importantly the cause.

Fold on!!!

I can't say it better, so I'll simply QFT.

Since I started, I always have, and will continue to use HF.com for my stats needs. I will say the newest redesign threw me for a loop at first (mostly trying to find all the graphs and whatnot to see my projections), however, once I figured out where everything was, I seriously love the new design, it looks much more sleek, and is just as easy to use (if not more so, because of other team's stats there as well).

hardfolding.com rocks! I look it up every day (and the sig feature is really nice ;) )

FOLD ON!

I did not mean for this thread to become a "Ride King's Sack" thread.....but that's cool too.

My main point here is that we are all part of this team/family. Please treat all member's contributions, great or small, with respect.

Awww, c'mon moose, a little love fest never hurt any of us, at least not like a reach through would!

But like you guys have said, this is a team/family/organization or whatever you want to call it, and our strength lies in our friendships and comradarie so let's not screw that up! :D

I'm all for a love fest, but sooner or later, King's sack is really gonna start to hurt. :D

And people think that I take stuff off topic...

I am fully aware that I pull threads off-topic. I just want us to all get along...humor is good for the soul of this team.

My thoughts,

I don't like that-

- we simply can't have a discussion regarding www.hardfolding.com.

My opinion: For one reason or another, the thread always turns sour. Two different opinions get raised and either side of the opinion go crazy. This seems a taboo subject which is so nuts, www.hardfolding.com should be the corner stone of all our folding efforts and yet for me at least www.hardfolding.com is not my corner stone. Why for me, I'm not sure right now.

I'm not going to say what I like/dislike about www.hardfolding.com. What I don't like is the fact that we can't have an open discussion regarding this issue. Threads/post deleted/locked, people getting pissed off about something which should be 110% positive is just crazy in my book.

Might as well add this, to be blunt the "old timers" and the "newbies" just flat out don't get along. Why, I don't know but I do know it takes two to have an argument.

- we can't discuss anything IRC related, period.

My opinion: From what I have gathered, someone in there always gets mad about something, complains to www.hardocp.com and www.hardocp.com is sick of the complaints. I would sicken quickly of this activity also, but turning this issue into a taboo subject just seems excessive in my opinion. A place for instant answers is just my kind of thinking.

- we don't have an active link to www.hardfolding.com from www.hardocp.com

My opinion: From what I have gathered, www.hardocp.com does not have control over the content of www.hardfolding.com hence the reason for no active hyperlink. This makes "legal" sense to me I guess, but on the reverse side all the front page pimpage would counter any "legal" reason not to. In the end, maybe I don't fully understand the issue.

Mostly if feels like we are a team without a home to me. The forums are at www.hardocp.com, the stats/news is at www.hardfolding.com. It's just different than the feeling I get at other teams.

We all are here for the cure, frankly what keeps me coming back is the fun of the forums, pure and simple for me.

Thanks for all your work on www.hardfolding.com King. Please know that many of us break our balls in many different ways to help the team and the cause. If I know how many hours I personally have spent on this hobby of sorts, I'd be scared. We all help in what ways we can, let's never forget the first person to welcome the new guy or post a response to a question.

I dunno, just a few things on my mind. Some regarding Moose's thread here, some not. Per KodiakStar's request, how does this help the cause and the team? I'm not sure, maybe somebody else feels this way, maybe not. Post and let us all know.

Man that was a bunch to get off your chest. Not sure I understood it all but I hope you feel better.

Sometimes a good “unload” helps ;) :D

As long as we all keep on keeping on

Group Hug??

I have Hardfolding set as my homepage can't get enough of it... I am a stats whore what can I say.

And I thought that DC == Disturbed Children or something close to that.

XXXOOO

We are having a discussion now aren't we?

Here's the deal. Open discussion about www.hardfolding.com is fine with me. I have no problems with it. In fact, I encourage it. What I do have a problem with it is when a totally unrelated thread is derailed and it turns into a HF bashing session. Simply unacceptable.

If you have a suggestion, or would like to discuss www.hardfolding.com, you are free to start a thread or PM King about it. I am sure that King would have no problem with civilized discussion about the site. Only good can come from that.

This is something that I have been pondering a lot myself and it needs to stop.

Not my call...talk to the boss about this one.

Neither do I...Again, out of my/our control.

Well said my friend. All members here make a contribution, whether it be mantaining the site, arranging contests, posting technical info, offering free hardware to other members, moderating this nuthouse ( :D ), putting up numbers that boggle the mind, or just plain old making this place a fun place to be. I love it here and this is my team, my home.

Thank you for sharing your feelings, Marty. I think it is good to get this stuff out and in the open.

No family is without issues, and we are no exception. ;)

Ok, I'm not going to try and quote that mess above, too lazy... :)

One question I have per IRC and hyperlink is, Moose do you have anymore of a direct access to the www.hardocp.com staff than the rest of us? Being a mod, some might think of have more of a voice than the rest of us--maybe not I don't know. I'm personally curious.

I've never asked www.hardocp.com regarding these issues directly myself (IRC/hyperlink) primarly because I think it's a taboo subject/been beaten to death/would just piss them off.

Let's start a campain for a hyperlink to www.hardfolding.com from www.hardocp.com.

1. Right now I think the answer is no.
2. So, the question is what needs to change to be able to do this.

As always, and Moose can confirm this, feel free to tell me to piss off. :D

Um, yes and yes haha! HF.com. Dang I didn't even read the thread, I just saw the first page about the site and what not about hitting it to keep it "active" and I do to check my stats, see how I'm doing at what not. Didn't mean to derail the talks here, I just thought I was doing my HF.com part by simply visiting the site and wanted to mention that.

Fold on!

Fess up. You like to hit it ;)

I really think it would be a better idea to email Kyle and simply ask him. I mean we do have the url on the frontpage now, so maybe just asking would be a better approach. Every exchange I have had with Kyle has been very pleasant, and he takes the time to answer anything I have ever asked of him.

I'm not sure what you mean by access? You have just has much contact with Kyle as I do.

Marty, there is no harm in asking. The worst answer would only be, "no."

I meant to use the word campain there jokely. Let's see what Moose's thoughts are here.

On a question that has been asked before, and the answer, who has a better chance of turning a "no", into a yes? Mod or peon or don't make no differance.

Ive been having problems loggin in for months, even tried creating a new account. Can anyone help?

oh yeah those stats are someone elses heh

My guess is that it really doesn't matter. I can inquire if you wish....

Shoot King_N a PM, with you email address and login info. I'm sure he can straighten it out for you.

Interesting points ZROUT.

1. Did the prevoius threads violate any of the forums rules?
2. Does it really matter since mods can delete posts/threads of contect they feel does not benifit the general purpose of the fourms anyways.

3. ZROUT- in my experiance in the corporate world many times what you say is not nearly as important as how you say it. Manys mods don't like open criticism in the forums- as I would not like open criticism at the work place. Somethings are best done behind closed doors at the work place/here maybe. Ever have a subordinate call you out in the work place?

Yea, sometimes a good public smack down is in order- but those cases are very rare and generally back fire and get nothing accompished.

Do some of the [H] mods have a reputation of "over modding" for lack of a kinder word across the interent? From what I've read at other forums in other peples opinions yes In my opinion the people raising these issues at other fourms were complete morons anyways but... Maybe this is from the mother of all mods (here) telling them to do what they feel is best and not holding them (sub mods) back from taking action. Generally speaking, mods have the ability to stear the tone/topic of the forums and over the years this is what that policy has produced- [H]ardforums. Maybe they just don't take no shit.

And the reachthroughs, admit it.

Glad to see that this thread hasn't degenerated yet. Just doing my bit.

From my viewpoint, HFolding is fine and useful. I don't visit it because I'm generating zero points. When somebody else mentions their stats, though, I use it and like it. I don't need a link on the frontpage, because I don't visit the frontpage nearly enough to notice. IRC doesn't work most of the time because I'm behind a restrictive firewall, so I don't notice anything that goes on there.

And ZROUT, I'd go with a "Benevolent Dictatorship".
