WTB: Opteron 6174

[Posidon42]

I need one more 6174 to complete my next rig. Let me know if anyone has one they could part with for a decent price. Heatware is 76-0-0 under Posidon42.

There's one option.

I saw that, but I was hoping to find one closer to the $400 mark.

Aren't we all...

Opteron 6172

Opteron 6172

A 6172 will reduce the speed of all CPUs in the system to that of the 6172.

No worries bud, thought i would put it out there anyway, if there was 4 of them i woulda bought them already

I put in some offers but I might have to wait a while for these to come down a bit more.

There's nothing stopping you from running it as a 3p! IIRC, I was getting a hair over 300k ppd when I had a 3p 6174 system.

The -bigadv instance will only use 32 of the 36 cores, though. If you want to utilize a second smp instance on the remaining 4 cores, you will need a custom version of the kraken to use on the second instance (to make sure the two instances are all bound to different cores). Tear, Musky or I should be able to hook you up with that version if you go this route.

Good luck finding a fourth cpu!

searching.....

interesting. I wonder how that is possible. Everyone always said it down clocked to the lowest common speed.

Maybe buy 3 and get a free upgrade on the 4th?

No longer looking. Have to sort out some financial issues with our travel trailer that got some water damage over the winter.
