Looking for large Nas drives. At minimum looking for 3 x 8TB for a RAID 5, could also do 2 x 14/16tb RAID 1.

These will be going in a Ubiquiti UNAS Pro

Buy them from Ubiquiti.

They ship Western Digital Ultrastar DC drives. I ordered a 8TB from them, got a HUS728T8TALE6L4

Got 3 8tb. One is a wd red. The other two white label. All 5400rpm. POH I’ll look up in a bit.

Microcenter Ironwolf drives are cheaper.

The drive you got is cheaper at bestbuy (if it were in stock).

I can have 2x Seagate ST14000NM001G (14tb) drives ready in a day or two if you want to go Raid1

I personally hate Seagate, but yes they are.

Also true, but I haven't seen them in stock in a while.
I too have always avoided seagate. Their high capacity ironwolf drives are quieter however than same capacity wd red. Seem cooler as well and faster! I want more of them now. I cannot speak to longevity of course, but going to give it a shot in this build.

11 of my 13 actively in use drives are Seagate cause I always go for cheapest (some are bare drives some are shucked from externals) - and I have 3 that are 13/12 years old (out of 4 from that time of which 1 died) still chugging along ATM and then the next oldest grouping of drives is 8 years old ATM (no deaths out of those 4) - I wouldn't worry about it too much they're fine IMO

Yeah, I believe I upgrade before any drive goes bad, so I got that going for me haha. I think I upgrade within 6-7 years typically. I like a lean system, less drives. Haven't yet had to deal with losing a large drive and rebuilding. I did swap a 10TB in unraid just to be on the safe side a couple years ago, same drive tested fine a year later. In my upcoming upgrade cycle I am going to resist upgrading and see how long they last, which is why I got the biggest drives I could stomach buying haha.

I might have some WD Red Plus 8TB drives that I may be looking to sell here.

One thing I learned from the last few weeks of looking at hard drives is to be careful just looking at the names. You might think one ironwolf pro is the same as another but when you compare the part numbers they are different and in the same line, under the same name, they have versions that are less performant.
