I'm looking for a cheap combo for basic computing tasks. would consider buying each piece separately, but looking to spend as little as possible around 150 or less. Something circa Ryzen 3600 or i5 9th or 10th gen would likely be the sweet spot. Let me know what you guys have.

Would think that a target price should be included as “cheap” is an incredibly relative term

But for non-graphics or production app intensive tasks even a $200 used laptop or iPad should suffice.

or a mobo/cpu combo with an i7-6700k? I might even have some ram to pair with it for REALLY cheap.

thanks for offers so far, but I would prefer something a little newer. if nothing better pops up, I'll consider them

Here, I could offer you an R5 1400, 24GB ddr4 combo, with a B350 motherboard, and let's say... $110 + shipping?

Edit: updated pricing, first was out of touch
