I have two sticks of corsair dominator gt memory , these are 1.65 volt. my question is would you use them with an I7 at the stock voltage?

As long as you set the IMC voltage to 1.15v (within 0.5v of the RAM voltage) you should be fine according to the Intel spec sheets.

I am not sure that those spec sheets are accurate anymore, as I have seen where the BIOS will auto set the IMC voltage to 0.95 and the RAM voltage to 1.59v.

That being said, I probably wouldn't run them... but that is me not liking 1.65v DDR3.

thanks for your answer I was hesitant to use them, now I won't, I hate to just look at them though.

I ran 1.65v dominators with my i7 3820 for a while, it worked fine.

I would just see how much you can undervolt those dominators. What speed are they rated for?

The FUD surrounding Haswell ram voltage is staggering. The Haswell I mc can handle varying peak voltages so intel played it EXTREMELY safe and set the native voltage as 1.5. Voltages in the 1.7-1.8 range are acceptable. 1.65 volts is Very common, totally safe, and widely used on all Haswells.

I wouldn't recommend 1.65v RAM for Sandy Bridge or newer unless you can successfully undervolt it to like 1.5-1.55V.

OP sig shows an i7 3770k.. so not Haswell.

I'm inclined to agree with both of you. I purposefully bought 1.5v sticks to avoid ANY issues in the future. I'd go for the protection plan just in case if you're dead set on using the 1.65v sticks, it's only $25 and it's a hell of a lot cheaper than ~$350 for a new CPU outright. And this is coming from someone who HATES add on protection plans.

I ran the G.Skill 2400mhz 1.65 ram with my I7-4771 on a x87 board without a hitch.

Just about all ram over 1600 is going 1.6v or higher. Ive ran 1.65 ram with no problems.

Does anyone know anyone who has a 1155/1150 CPU that was damaged by running 1.65 ram?

My 1.65v RAM is able to undervolt to 1.425v. With slightly tighter timings. It refuses to run at 1600 mhz though at any voltage.
