Would you do this trade...?

I prolly would not. I would prolly try to OC the e7200 to e8400 or better speeds (odds are good of hitting near 3Ghz with an e7200) and drop $50-100 for another 2 gigs of ram if I actually needed it.

Even if you don't OC, provided you already have at least 2gigs of ram, the e7200 and 4870 will perform better in most newer games than the e8400 and 4850 at resolutions of 1600x1200 or higher. Especially if the AA is cranked.

nope its a bad deal.

4850 1gig is no better then a 4850 512meg, but a 4870 512 blows away either of those.

Stick with what you got....it almost sounds like a scam to me shrug

Any other opinions?
I concur with the two first replies: No. Bad deal for a gaming setup. Most games these days are GPU limited, not CPU limited at around 1280x1024 and above. So the performance difference between a E7200 and E8400, assuming same card, would be nil once you start playing at around 1280x1024 and above. Since the E7200 route nets you a faster video card which provides more performance, it's a no brainer: Stick with the E7200 and HD4870.
