ok so I have my system and I want to upgrade my GPU's later I will decide to eith go I7 or get a Q9650 and rampage extreme but for now Im staying with what I have for cpu mobo the only thing I'm thinking is gpu's. so I now have 2X HD4870 512mb. they both will overclock to 845 core 1005 mem. one is refrence (software volt modable) other is powercolor non refrence (non soft volt modable) but will hit the same clocks no sweat. should I go for 2Xhd5770's? or with the 128bit memory interface kill my performance? I know I should save for 5850/5870 but I'm not willing to dish out the price for those the 5770's are more in my range. i need some help deciding if I should do it or no. OR shopuld I try and grab 2X4890 1GB's while they are still available???? someone help please?!?!?

I would wait and get a 5870. I think in the long term is gonna be better to stick with that. Instead of those 5770s. But its really your money. If your not willing to fork out the $$ then go for the 5770s and you should have a pretty decent DX 11 gaming rig

1680X1050 but i can go as high as 1920X1080 but my currnet cards get a bit laggy when I do yeah sorry for the impatience lol
the main reason idw to get the 5870's is because i nkow in about 6 months they wil drop lower i got my 4870's for 299 when they came out and 6 months later they were almost half that. and i mainly want them for DX11 gaming.

Dude, can you please start using punctuation? Thats one large run-on sentence.

Two HD 5770 will cost just a bit less than a single HD 5870. Just look at reviews for it and see if it's significantly fast enough for you.

I'd say either stick with what you have since it's already pretty good or get a single 5870. You don't have to buy them in pairs you know... you can buy a 2nd 6 months from now.

Yeah just remembered that the HD 5770 is a tad slower than the HD 4870 he has now. So yea, the upgrade isn't worth it.

So, basically just get a 5870. Looks like thats the most common reply on this and other forums. Guess I'll just have to bit the bullet and do it. DX 11 is the main purpose but I rather like having a dual GPU setup. Guess I'll just get 2 5870's. thanks a bunch guys.

For 1680*1050? Stick with the cards you have...more than enough power at the moment

If you're still unsure, those 4870s you've got are plenty fast.

I had a 4870x2 and got a single 5870 just for Eyefinity. But before my Eyefinity setup, I immediately noticed that the 5870 on a single monitor was cranking out *much* smoother framerates than the 4870x2. Even with vsync off, I wasn't seeing much tearing at all with many games (even Crysis Warhead produced only minimal tearing).

The odd thing is, the framerates themselves weren't significantly higher on the 5870. It just *felt* smoother. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the much talked about microstuttering, but the 5870 seemed much more consistent between frames than my x2 card.
