Would my PSU power...?

32A on the +12V rail but rated at 25C. So at higher temperatures, which most PSUs do see, it may not be able to provide that much power. So I say no, it cannot handle a HD4850.

I would think so, I mean all he is running is 1 hdd, and a video card plus maybe one or two optical drives. Use this calculator to help though Link

If its a real 500W PSU (i'll leave that up to the OP to look up, check out www.jonnyguru.com for the best PSU reviews, just look for one in the same family and see what he thinks of it) it will handle an HD4870 just fine, let alone an HD4850.

Well, I purchased the card. I just hope it will run. I won't have time to test it out on my PSU until Friday night.

Since I am running a fairly lightweight system (only 1 hd, 1 odd), I think it should be enough. If not, I will just downclock my cpu from 3.2 to 2.8.

According to the calculator, I will draw a maximum of 410 watts (which would almost never happen). Should be okay because my psu seems to maintain an average 75% efficiency.
