This is what i have came up with. Please give some insight on things to omit or change if needed. Will use it for Photoshop/AfterAffects/Maya+Rendering , Gaming will come in second as i only play a couple times a week.

CPU = Q9450
MOTHERBOARD = ABIT IP35 Pro
PSU = SeaSonic M12 SS-500HM ATX12V or CORSAIR CMPSU-520
GPU = 9600 GT should work
RAM = G.SKILL 4GB(2 x 2GB) may purchase another set for 8gb
HD = 74gb Raptor (OS and games) + 500gb 16mb sata drive ( Data)
SOUND = ?
CD/DVD = ?
CHASIS = LIAN LI PC-A05B, LIAN LI PC-V600B, LIAN LI PC-V1100BPlusII , Antec P182 ( Looking to keep things quiet )

Seems good to me, maybe more RAM cause it's so cheap right now. Soundcard doesn't really matter unless you prefer one and any DVD burner should work.

Looking good. I would go with the Corsair PSU. It offers 40A on the +12V rail while that Seasonic PSU only offers 38A on the +12V. Plus it's cheaper:

As for the DVD burner, this Samsung drive is pretty quiet and good:
Samsung SH-203B 20X DVD±R SATA DVD Burner - $30

As for cases, totally up to you.

I recently bought the Corsair 750tx (non-modular) for $115 from buy.com. You might want to consider it.
Also, regarding cases, I picked up an Antec P182 on sale from microcenter.com for $70. Seems like a great case so far. It fit my ip35 Pro + q9450 + Tuniq 120 Tower no problem.

If you want faster on-the-fly rendering for 3D apps, a professional grade card would be best. However, most people who don't want to shell out all that cash on a vidcard look for Radeons that can be soft-modded into FireGL cards. Photoshop and other 2D apps don't need a midrange card. Your gaming, however, will need one.

As stated above, onboard sound should suffice unless you have amazing speakers/headphones you'd like to drive. I also agree with Danny's recommendations.
