Tomorrow I'm presenting this to my school's IT guy, who's as cool as he is dumb.
But this will mean around 160-230 computers that run at 1-2.2Ghz each.

Wish me luck,
Jeff

I highly suggest that you ask them if you can do a test of a few machines to begin with to show that it won't do anything bad with the machines. You are more likely to get permission for all of them this way. Also, if any problems do somehow pop up, it won't take the whole place down and no one will get in deep shit over it. Also, if there are problems, they may allow you to find out what is causing them and fix them and after that slowly borg the place.

Good luck.

very nice. that reminds me... i have to get on talking to either the guy who runs the machines or my friend who works with him at my high school... buncha P4 systems.

we'll see;)

good luck with that!

Luck? Luck has nothing to do with it.

Do. or do not ;)

*cough cough*
/joke
I mean. dont just send them a virus with f@h as a payload if they say no ;)
joke/

Its kinda funny though, after being at stanford (student) 4 years (with g/f) 1 year after
the 4... I never heard about the project.. if only the hundreds of people who learned
about napster learned about f@h... all that bandwidth wouldnt have been so badly
wasted...

I know it wouldn't help us([h]) per say, but it would help us(humanity) if there was some big contest amongst schools. Maybe someone with a million dollars lying around could make a prize for the school that turns out the most wu's in a year or something....

Ok, he seemed to like the idea. But as I was explaining it, the Dean of Students walked in.

So, it looks good though. I'll probably know tomorrow.

Jeff

You can always say "Oh by the way we've already been running it for two months now and as you can see there's been no negative impact. After all, part of my job duties is to constantly monitor and re-evaluate our network infrastructure bandwidth with various workloads blah blah blah...." (add as many large words as you see fit) :D

Score! Here's some more luck, just in case ;)

Sorry about the no updates, but winter break and the flu kind of went together...

I've gotten the ok from the tech admin, now it's got to be run by my school principal, I should know by this Wednesday.

You might want to hedge your bets like people have suggested and say test it on say 1 lab first. That will be an easier pill to swallow for the principal. Good luck.
