I'm trying to find out how to set up a network using a Wireless Access Point from a dial-up PC. The reason that I'm doing this is because I got a Dell Axim X3i and want to be alble to connect to it wirelessly. All I need is recomendations in what to use and how to do this. I'm totally new to this and have no clue. Please help!!!!!

P.S. Eventually I want to be able to connect all computers in my house with this. Now I'm planning to eventually upgrade to DSL or Cable but for now I have to deal with the dial-up.

Thanks

Sorry Mods, I just realized that I posted in the wrong forum, can you move it?

Thanks

This is fairly easy, Ive done it. If you dont already have a switch/router for a wired network, run a crossover cable to the access point from your NIC. Then go to the Network Setup wizrd if you are in XP. In the wizard, tell it that you dial up to the internet and would liek to share it over the NIC connection. From there, just follow the directions with your WAP to connect to it if you want to set up WEP and/or MAC address filtering. If you don't care, as soon as the wizard finishes, you should be ble to connect to it fine your your PDA.

BTW, I see you are from Orlando. Im not too far from it and Im moving there soon, any good LANs in the area?

Not really, but what are you wanting to do? or are looking for something specific?

Just general lans. No CS only lans or Xbox lans. Mainly games like UT2k4, MoHAA, Q3, Serious Sam and Starcraft.

If your using a wireless router just disable dinamic routing and change the IP address to somthing like 192.168.0.x make sure you don't use the IP 192.168.0.1 becuse thats what internet conection sharing uses.
