Windoze or Linux for best ppd?

Just as it says...what will get more ppd on the same rig? Windoze SMP or Linux SMP? I'll be running 32 bit Windoze XP Pro or a 64bit Linux Distro. I'm about to build out a few headless boxen and I'd like to know what will be more effecient. The boxes will ONLY be folding.

Linux 64 bits with SMP client hands down

I have one and the PPD is awesome compared to Windows. I'm using Ubuntu 64 myself and it's a great way to get forced to adapt to Linux, being a Windows guy.

Seconded, for so many reasons!

FYI:
Ubuntu is a Live CD, but you get slightly higher PPD if you install it to your hard drive- very easy to do if you have a spare.

Is Linux faster than windoze if I use VMware? I'm leaving the Dozer on my main gaming rig...but if it's faster to use VMware then I may jump that direction.

Linux for sure makes more SMP points. Plus it keeps the cost down or frees up some cash for a faster CPU or better mobo.

Bah, I get free copies of XP Pro from my school...cost is not a factor.

On my C2D @ 3.33 running VMware/Suse10.1, I got between 1518 PPD on P3025 (587 point wu) and 2144 PPD on P2605 (1760 point wu). Running the Windows SMP on the same machine, I get 1404 PPD on the P2652 (1148 point wu) and 1909 PPD on the P2651 (1760 point wu).

C2D@3.2 gets over 2k PPD on Fedora Core 6 with SMP client. That's just an approximation since it's my main rig and I boot back into Windows to game which is usually around 3-4 hours a day so I can't figure my points exactly. It will do a 1760 point WU in about 18 hours when left to fold only.
