I got a 2.9 because of my hard drive...? my hard drive never scored that low in Vista, why so low now...?

My hard drive score went from 5.3 to 5.4 compared to Vista. You might want to test the drive to make sure its ok.

No I got the same thing as well. In Vista 64 it was at 5 something, in Windows 7 it's like 2.8. Running it via Boot Camp on a MacBook Pro. So no, you're not alone.

My HDD gets a 6.0/7.9 which I find weird considering it is two 640 WD's in RAID 0...

No idea what I'm getting, with VMtools installed the test wouldn't finish. It a know bug.

My 3 1/2 year old Seagate that came with an old pre-built HP i used to have scored a 3.0.
I wouldn't worry about the scores, they are kinda pointless anyways.

I get a 5.9 score with my single WD 640gig AAKS in Win7 64. I had a similar or the same score with Vista64.

Scores for the rig in my sig.

I've got a 2.9 for my HD as well, and it's a pretty decent HD (7200rpm, 230gb, either Seagate or WD, forgot)....
Everything else in my rig rates accurately, though, so no biggie I guess. lol

mine is similar, 80GB Seagate SATA, and my rating in Vista was like 5.<something>, it's the same OS drive, I just reformatted that partition and installed Win7, it's split pretty equally as well, ~40GB for XP and ~40 for Win7...

Interesting read. Thanks Joe. Very informative. Some of the comments at the end are intelligent and that can make the MS devs think a little bit different then normal by getting real user feedback. Although other comments still show how ignorant and foolish some people are...

"To reflect this real world learning, in the Windows 7 Beta code, we have capped scores for drives which appear to exhibit the problematic behavior (during the scoring) and are using our feedback system to send back information to us to further evaluate these results. Scores of 1.9, 2.0, 2.9 and 3.0 for the system disk are possible because of our current capping rules. Internally, we feel confident in the beta disk assessment and these caps based on the data we have observed so far. Of course, we expect to learn from data coming from the broader beta population and from feedback and conversations we have with drive manufacturers."

So that explains it.

Thanks for the link!

For the hard drive only? The index must surely be 1.0 in VirtualBox due to the lack of Direct3D acceleration.

Correct for HD only it was 5.9, overall like you said because of lack of any type of video card it was 1.0.

well, the other day I was contemplating getting a raptor in the for sale section, I told the wife and she nixed the idea so I had to re-pm the individual and cancel my interest (women ), the next day I was browsing craigslist and what do I see...? a 160GB HP Raptor for $60 (the same amount that I was gonna buy the 80GB on the for sale section here), I said fuck it, didn't say shit to the wife, went to the ATM and drove out to pick it up with friend, my WEI score is now 5.9 with my fresh install of Win7 on a 80GB partition, I explained the impulse buy to the wife and also told her that I would probably never see a deal that good again and that I would stay late at work for a few hours to cover the cost and she was cool with it...

brand new, still sealed in the packaging, $60, wow, I got lucky...
