Hi,

and looking for a Windows 7 64bit compatible esata external enclosure for my 1TB HDD.

I have bought a couple of enclosures but they will not work with Windows 7 64bit, they work fine when I install Linux on the same machine but Win 7 refuses to recognise them.

It seems they must be specifically Win7 64bit compatible..

Any suggestions?..

Thanks :D

Can't imagine why an esata enclosure would make any difference. What COULD be the problem is the controller you're using to provide the estat port. Where's the port coming from? Motherboard or add-in controller? Had you checked with the vendor to find out the right way to configure the port for external sata use in Win7?

Every eSata enclosure I have tried with my W7 64-bit has worked, both by plugging it into a specific eSata port on the motherboard or to a Sata to eSata cable attached to the front panel. Without enabling AHCI, you will likely need to reboot before the device is recognized.

and stupid dickheads who give stupid answers.. SO.. in reply.. you are a fool and should learn some better life skills
LOL!

There's nothing inherently incompatable with w7 64bit and eSATA external drives.

The problem with many people is that they don't realize that the eSATA may be on a different controller than the Intel/AMD chipset and 3rd party drivers may need to be installed..

I have no idea why you would ask ADK pro audio about a MB/OS problem.

A good trouble shooter would have posted his MB specs.

I stand by my TS comments. :)

BTW if you're using the P6T, I'm using the same board with W7 64bit and eSATA is just fine..........

Edit.....
I bet you there was a time when you didn't know EVERYTHING and occasionaly needed to ask a stupid question
I'm 58 and just wanted to clue ya in.....I consider myself to know nothing. ;)
