Windows 10 "HDR" Update 4/10/2017

Boy, this update really had me stumped.

Everything was dimmed out and somewhat washed out on my KS8000.

Took me 10 minutes to find that it was a new HDR setting added to display options.

Anyone else have this issue?

It may only be for HDR capable displays.
 
Looks like getting HDR right on the desktop is going to be a bumpy affair...


(the dimming makes sense, from a conceptual perspective, but Microsoft is going to have to work hard to ensure that they don't, by default, make things worse)
 
Yeah mating desktop and programs designed for SDR with HDR is going to be long and hard process. On the plus side, HDR video clips finally work properly through MPC-HC and MadVR with HDR set to passthrough in the latter. But otherwise, I keep HDR turned off for now unless I need it.
 
I had no choice but to turn it off. It also kills performance in addition to washing out the screen. I could def feel it in the mouse.
