I just installed a fresh copy of XP X64 and trying to install wincolor but I get this error message:

"Microsoft Color Control Panel Applet for windows xp requires that your computer is running windows xp sp2 and that you have administrative or install priveledges on your computer"

I do have admin rights and I do have SP2..is wincolor incompatible with X64?

Windows XP and Windows XP x64 are really very different operating systems, despite the similar name. I guess it doesn't work (and since it's something that's fairly closely integrated with the system, it's not too surprising you'd need a 64-bit version for it to work anyway).

so how can we use color profiles? Does anyone know a different program? I really dont want to get a colorimeter that I'll only use once...

I tried the display properties>color management thing and it only recognizes my monitor as a Plug and Play Monitor. No matter what Color Profile I use I see no visible change in actual color on the screen...

You shouldn't see a change in the screen colours by selecting a different profile in the display properties. The Windows XP desktop is not colour managed.

but when I was using Wincolor on XP X86 the colors on my desktop wallpaper changed as I changed the color profile...
