Just wanna know since I have an OEM and got it 8/6 and it sucks at oc'ing
 
YES - unless there was a big party that week thrown by someone in the production facility and they all came in hung over Monday, and screwed things up.

This early in the process they are probably tweaking little things each week still. So each week might be a little better. Plus the initial supply needed for the X6800's is probably completely met, so now they dont have to use all the best speed bins for 6800's they'll probably be using some for 6600 & 6700's too!

Look at the calender... Week 29 looks like the end of July nothing special there... but I wonder if it was like Thanksgiving week or Xmas week if there might be worse yields b/c people might be busy planning their holiday and not do everything exactly right!

Last I heard, I think mwave is shipping some 28's, as is BLT. I know tankguys is shipping 26's, and you can always check ebay for listings of course. With most retail stores it's a crap shoot though, unless you buy from the few that post steppings/weeks.

Hmmm, if tankguys are shipping week 26, then I might have to buy earlier than expected. Is there any way to check without calling them?

got my week 28 from Mwave and its priming right now at 3.4Ghz 1.4v. Im still testing though as i just got it yesterday.

my week 25 sucked, most it would do is 3.4ghz with 1.6-1.65v. I just got a week 28 from ZZF yesterday and it'll do 3.6ghz with 1.6v and 3.4ghz with 1.4v. Haven't really tried higher than 3.6....my DFI board freaks out after 400fsb

3.4 doesn't suck. having to give it 1.6v isn't too great.

But come on people are getting unrealistic expectations all over the place with Conroe. 500Ghz over the fastest stock process they are selling (x6800) isn't bad. You can't expect Pentium 4 like overclocks on a chip thats architecture is totally different.

Most people have long been happy with getting 2.8Ghz clocks from their X2. Now all of the sudden everyone is bitching that their Core2 "ONLY does 3.4Ghz"

IMO, it sucks. I expect more with less volts and after seeing many others with newer weeks getting much better results, i consider it a dud as far as a good oc'ing chip goes.

I don't overclock to save money or all that jazz. I buy whatever chip fits in the budget i set aside for an upgrade and overclock it. i don't see how my expectations were unrealistic when my second chip hit my expectations. If I overclocked to save money and that was my only reason, then i'd be happy with 2.9ghz but that's not the case.
 
I bought a week 28 E6600, which by my count, would have been July 9-15th. Hopefully everyone had recovered from the fourth of July by then... :D

Seriously though, I suspect that the actual variance in manufacture quality from week to week is extremely minimal. If anything, the chips would get slightly better over time as the processes get honed, but really, I doubt it would be enough for anyone to really notice...
 
Mine is a week 27 and it does about 3.2Ghz with 1.375V. I haven't really tried pushing it a lot further though. Won't boot at 9x400 no matter what I have the settings at.
