So I'm thinking I'm going to go ahead and dive into a WC setup, I'd like to have as few parts as possible with decent performance because I intend to overclock my i7 920 D0, I could probably do it just as well on air cooling but I'm an enthusiast so I'd like to go all out, here are the specs of my computer:

Case: Silverstone TJ09 - (I already have the radiator brackets to mount it so my choices are slim for dual 120mm rads)
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD4P
CPU: Intel Core i7 920 D0 stepping
RAM: GSkill 6gb
GPU: EVGA 9800GTX+
HDDs: Dual Intel X-25M SSDs w/ RocketRaid 2302 Raid 0
PSU: Seasonic 700W PSU

Inside the case I have the two Silverstone 120mm fans that came with it, plus 2 x Noctua 120mm fans (they will be mounted to the rad) and another Noctua 120mm fan cooling the harddrives.

So here's what I've been looking at for a setup, keep in mind I'd like to keep it as compact as possible because I had having stuff all over in the case.

All of this stuff will have 1/2 barbs and obviously 1/2 ID tubing, the reason I went with the Primochill tubing is because I wanted black tubing, but I didn't want UV Black.

My Silverstone TJ09 is the black version with a window, my goal is to have a black and white contrast, with black tubing, white lighting and maybe a couple of white LED fans, not quite sure, I haven't figured the whole thing out yet.

I went with the Koolance system for a couple of reason, one being that it's compact and is basically an all in one solution for the parts that usually take up the most room, and I'd like to have a minimum of clutter. I went with that Heatkiller block because in benchmarks it's only a couple of degree C from the top-dog Heatkiller CPU block.

I am also thinking about adding in watercooling for my GFX card what else would I need for that? Could I mount a single 120mm radiator in the loop to help with cooling? I read somewhere that a decent dual 120mm radiator with proper cooling is good for 300W - 600W of heat dissipation and a single 120mm was good for about half that, whether or not that's true, that's what I'm here to ask you guys!


One more thing, I was looking at this upgraded version of the Koolance Res&Pump:

Should I be getting that one? I didn't think it'd be necessary considering that I'm going to have a pretty small loop that's not very complicated.

Any help from all of you would be greatly appreciated! I'd like to get this right the first time!

Koolcrap stuff made in korea, that is a mcp350 with some lousy res that will leak, you are better off with the DDC 3.2 with the XSPC restop

As I sad the TJ09s brackets only support a 240mm radiator and there are about 5 supported models on the list because it has to be slim in order to make the clearanceyou can see the other models on the website I'm trying to figure out which is best

Do you have a better suggestion for coolant as I'm not trying to mx my own I'd rather use a premade one
 
Apparently you want blue, just find the least expensive per gallon UV blue stuff you can find. As previously mentioned it will make no difference in temps or anything else, its all marketing BS.

These companies are not lying to us. Their "magic" water has some stuff in it that may or may not provide some benefit. It is the effectiveness of the alleged benefit vs the ridiculous price that annoy me. Of course thats just me, I have good tap water so you will find me dead before I spend a buck on bottled water. I regard cheapness as the supreme virtue :D If you do not want to mess with it, fine, thats you, good show, its your money and stuff. :cool:

This is how easy it is if you do change your mind:

Gal of distilled water from Grocery store - one buck.
Gal of blue 50/50 antifreeze from auto parts store $?? (the blue is UV for leak detection - bonus)
UV Blue dye pack online + shipping ? say $10 (use just as much as you need, no more)
Sharpie permanent marker. $1.29
empty 16 oz soda/drink bottle - does not even need to be cleaned, just empty. or cheap measuring cup.

Go anywhere but kitchen. Antifreeze is poison.
Mark original water level of unopened distilled water on side of jug with sharpie pen
Open distilled water jug and pour out 2 cups (16 oz) into measuring cup or fill empty soda bottle.
Discard the 2 cups water and put the measuring cup away. Under no circumstances put antifreeze in measuring cup.
Open antifreeze and use it to refill jug of water to original marked level.
Use sharpie to clearly mark the now mixed jug of water as UNDRINKABLE - COMPUTER USE ONLY !

You just spent $25 tops and 5 minutes and have a full gallon of 6% (8oz antifreeze/128oz total fluid) solution coolant that will kill bugs, provide some corrosion protection and help lubricate pump impeller bearing.

If antifreeze is 100% antifreeze pour out only 1 cup (8oz) water. (fill soda bottle 1/2 way)

For 12% solution double the amounts water poured out (4 cups 50/50, 2 cups 100%) but 6% should be fine.

You also have almost a full gallon of good antifreeze that anyone with a car would love to have now that winter is approaching and everyone can use a new sharpie.
 
Thanks BillParrish, I completely understand your point, maybe I'll make my own, but do you have any suggestions on the actual setup ? The last poster just told me how shitty some of the parts I bought were, but didn't spend any time recommending comparable parts that would be a better choice and why...

I would get this pump and the swiftech micro res.

and if you are cooling the gpu also get the swiftech 320 rad.

follow Bill's coolant advise. other than that it looks ok.
