Will my Motherboard run an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro?
Currently using - Nvidia GF ti4200

That's right. She's been alive for over 5 years and only 2 reformats (excluding times I upgraded to WinXP)
 
hmm probably...since they both are agp cards....right?
what are the specs of the machine?
cpu speed, ram , power supply?
 
Yeah, I think you should be fine. Just make sure you use driver cleaner when you change drivers to ATI ones.
 
I'd worry about whether your power supply is up to the task...

Before laying down some coin on a video card like that I'd inspect the Compaq mainboard, the Trigems they used in some of those systems had bad caps resulting in failure of the mainboard, I through out two of those systems last summer...
