DragonMasterAlex said:What an utterly *bizarre* tactic. Just sell the fucking things already! LOL.
Humans...who's clever idea was *that*?![]()
Maybe I don't understand how to run a business, but if I have the choice to sell a product today or tomorrow, it would make a lot of sense to sell a product today.CKMorpheus said:Let it be stated I don't entirely agree with the idea, but here's the thing. The ads will say that the store will have a minimum in stock. If they were to sell the systems, they wouldn't have that minimum in stock and then they'd have a lot of disappointed customers.
I'm not aware of there being any held for Friday (Our BB newsletter only states systems being held for Sunday's ad) but then again, it is Best Buy.

As I said, I do not run a business.Alias2 said:No it doesn't. They want to draw you into the store on Friday for the big sales. They hope you will buy your Wii, and cruise the store and see something else you want.
Same thing goes for EB/Gamestop/Walmart. All of my local store have confirmed that they will have them on-sale Friday. They want you to buy something else when you walk in. They know that if they sell them now, most of those people won't step foot in that crowded store on friday. But if they wait, run a giant ad, thats 20-30 more people buying a Wii, and potentially hundreds wanting one. They sell there consoles either way, except this way has the potential for more profit. Especially the game stores who will be running sales that day aswell.

megawzrd said:You can chalk Target up on that list as well. If you call guest services for the wii they have been instructed not to do inventory searches because they say "we know they are not in stock"...they are waiting for the "next release" date. Oops guess they should have came up with a better line of dribble..."next release" date is bs. Two release dates for a product is just a plain stupid idea.
Why all this deception?...just to run it on for black friday ads to increase the store's margin on said day so the books look nice.
#$%& black friday...you won't see me in the stores in that mess. Black friday is nearly "bait and switch" day...stock numbers get lower and lower each year on the "hot" items...the stuff they lose money on...so when they sell out early they can convince you to buy the one that actually makes profit for the store. Lines, lines and lines...such a miserable experience.

The current manager of my Gamestop who I worked with years when I worked their got around 20 Wiis instock tuesday. That same day, the the district manager came into the store for an inspection and ORDERED all Wii's to be held until Black friday.
Well, he knew how much I wanted one and he discreetly rang one up behind the register and stuffed it into several bags while several people and kids looked on that didn't have a clue. I've been playing Wii sports nonstop since 1 oclock
Ahhh..... I love being scum sometimes

They aren't concerned about selling the Wii. It's just a tool. They want to sell as much as possible, accessories and other items, as well as have customers returning to their store.drizzt81 said:Maybe I don't understand how to run a business, but if I have the choice to sell a product today or tomorrow, it would make a lot of sense to sell a product today.

Devnull said:Another day today! Is any place selling the Wii today?
Movieesa said:So whats the verdict, they will be easily buyable in the next couple weekls then? Isn't, nintendo pumping them out a lot faster then any other system?
PoweredBySoy said:Jesus, it's Thanksgiving. Go eat some turkey.
Mmmm... tryptophan.
I hate turkey... almost as much as I hate gatherings. I know some store is making people work on thanksgiving, and they have wii in stock at said store.
I'm still working on thatShmoaster said:Do you know the name of "said store" by any chance?
Unfortunately people are not rational. If that was the case then lying to customers would be a bad business practice.Devnull said:There is another side to that, not everyone wants to shop in the hell that is black friday. Do they want people to show up and just get frustrated and say "fuck this store"?
