Wii restocks?

Walmart and Best Buy here in Nashville had more in yesterday.

Hah.. no way.. I was so close to stopping by Target on the way home from work but I figured it would be useless..

Wow.. :(

So I called the same futureshop that said they'd get more in a day or two, only today they said not for a MONTH! WTF?!?!?! If anyone has a straight answers (or a buddy who works in a futureshop or other big name retailer) it'd be much appreciated.

For those looking around for a wii. Maybe you can go into a BB and play some poker with management :)

1) Best Buy’s have already received their second shipments of Wii’s, but refuse to sell.
2. Employees are being told to lie to customers about any Wii related shipments.
3. Best Buy has not changed their practices and still believes in deceiving paying customers.
4. Best Buy will have a minimum of 18 Wii’s for “Black Friday” and 12 for Sunday.
5. Upper Management will lie right to your face about any information regarding the Wii’s, but they will then go back on that statement but then lie again about actual qty.

http://toddcox.com/wordpress/nfblog/

Heres an idea:

Go into BB and ask to talk to the manager, ask him if they have any Wiis if he says no tell him ok, how about this, say you did have some in stock and you guys were saving them for friday how about I make it worth your wild and buy 6-8 games today along with it, no questions asked, along with w.e extra accessories you guys might have in stock. If he refuses his loss, if he accepts leave the store drive the nearest other best buy and return everything you don't want.

profit++

The eb I went to today already has their wii's restocked but refuses to sell until Friday, what a crock of BS.

What an utterly *bizarre* tactic. Just sell the fucking things already! LOL.

Humans...who's clever idea was *that*? :)

for real..

i don't see the point.. why don't they just sell. those things will sell anyway.. why not sell them now...

Let it be stated I don't entirely agree with the idea, but here's the thing. The ads will say that the store will have a minimum in stock. If they were to sell the systems, they wouldn't have that minimum in stock and then they'd have a lot of disappointed customers.

I'm not aware of there being any held for Friday (Our BB newsletter only states systems being held for Sunday's ad) but then again, it is Best Buy.

EDIT: And also let it be known. Best Buy has not told their employees to lie. They have told us (And even gave us a scripted response) to tell everyone who asks that on Sunday we will be selling more. Any employee who says they don't know or they don't have any, is either being a nitwit who doesn't know a thing going on in the department, or the store is being run by corrupt management who isn't following SOP (Standard Operating Procedure). If someone asks us if we have them in stock, we say yes but they cannot be sold until Sunday.

The systems are under lock and key, only to be opened by management.

Jeez, I can't believe I'm defending a store that makes me miserable. I guess when people talk shit about the store it feels like they are saying it about me.

Maybe I don't understand how to run a business, but if I have the choice to sell a product today or tomorrow, it would make a lot of sense to sell a product today.

I'm in total agreement. I feel we should sell everything but the minimum required for the sale. And in fact we could, but it's up to management how to deal with it on a per-store basis. I've been told that just today you could find Wii's easily in an Arizona store.

if they sell on friday it gives more incentive to go to the store on friday, thus buying more of their hot deals.

No it doesn't. They want to draw you into the store on Friday for the big sales. They hope you will buy your Wii, and cruise the store and see something else you want.

Same thing goes for EB/Gamestop/Walmart. All of my local store have confirmed that they will have them on-sale Friday. They want you to buy something else when you walk in. They know that if they sell them now, most of those people won't step foot in that crowded store on friday. But if they wait, run a giant ad, thats 20-30 more people buying a Wii, and potentially hundreds wanting one. They sell there consoles either way, except this way has the potential for more profit. Especially the game stores who will be running sales that day aswell.

I was a futureshop this morning and they have a shipment in, just waiting for the accessories before they throw them on the shelves. This is in west van, bc.

I get the Pro's and Con's of sell don't sell the wii before Black Friday.
I just wish they would sell the wii as soon as they get them because like me, I think alot of people want to buy the Wii not just for X-mas gifts but also to have for thanksgiving so friends and family can have fun playing....That's what I thought the Wii was for, group fun...?

As I said, I do not run a business.

You can chalk Target up on that list as well. If you call guest services for the wii they have been instructed not to do inventory searches because they say "we know they are not in stock"...they are waiting for the "next release" date. Oops guess they should have came up with a better line of dribble..."next release" date is bs. Two release dates for a product is just a plain stupid idea.

Why all this deception?...just to run it on for black friday ads to increase the store's margin on said day so the books look nice.

#$%& black friday...you won't see me in the stores in that mess. Black friday is nearly "bait and switch" day...stock numbers get lower and lower each year on the "hot" items...the stuff they lose money on...so when they sell out early they can convince you to buy the one that actually makes profit for the store. Lines, lines and lines...such a miserable experience.

Exactly. I won'tt be buying anything on Black Friday except for a Wii. I have never been able to score the hot deals anyways. Its always to busy.

Minnesota Call report

Target
St. Louis park - Doesn't have them, no ideal when they will be getting any
Crystal - Same as above

Based on the exact same response from those 2 I'm not going to bother to call the other 3 Targets I was going to.

Toys R Us
Minnetonka - Nope, we don't have them and we have no ideal if/when we will get more

Best Buy
Minnetonka and Brooklyn Center - same deal - We should have them Sunday, only minimum quantities though. Asked if they were getting any for Black Friday and they said they wouldn't

Gamestop
Ridgedale - none, but should have a couple on friday 7am
Robbinsdale - None, maybe we will have them friday or next week
Brookdale - He alluded to them having them now but said he could not confirm quantities or if they have them or do not. He said even if they have them they can't sell them until Friday. After another question, he said we had some come in but I haven't counted them..

So looks like Minnesota people are screwed until Friday or until hell freezes over.

Damn it. I want to sleep in Friday. Not get up early and stand in line to buy a Wii at MSRP. Damn at least a hot deal would be nice, but whatever.

I spoke to my manager (Best Buy) about these rumors about Best Buy putting out Wii's on Black Friday and they are completely false. All Wii's are to be held till Sunday, as per the ad.

Gamestop in Block E said they'd have Wii's for sale Friday morning. She said she wasn't sure how many they'd get, but I'm sure they were all sitting 10 feet from her.

Sounds like Gamestop Friday morning or Best Buy Sunday.

This proves once again its not what WHAT you know, but WHO you know.

The current manager of my Gamestop who I worked with years when I worked their got around 20 Wiis instock tuesday. That same day, the the district manager came into the store for an inspection and ORDERED all Wii's to be held until Black friday.

Well, he knew how much I wanted one and he discreetly rang one up behind the register and stuffed it into several bags while several people and kids looked on that didn't have a clue. I've been playing Wii sports nonstop since 1 oclock

Ahhh..... I love being scum sometimes :D

I hate that answer, "before christmas" what if umm, I'm in Spain from Dec 14th to 28th, and I have a LAN party Saturday and a family get together where people want to try it umm, tomorrow.

Oh well, it's not their fault if they are out of stock, but if they refuse to sell until friday I don't get it. I'm camping out thursday night at Target nearby for one though.

Been surfing the web looking for clues. It seems a few EB Games/Gamestop employees have spoken up. Seems nearly all of them will have Wii's on friday, and a few may have some PS3's assuming preorders have been filed in your area. I know my EB got a few PS3's in and all but one went to pre orders. So we will see. Maybe I will pick up both on Friday. Only one gets to stay though ;)

They aren't concerned about selling the Wii. It's just a tool. They want to sell as much as possible, accessories and other items, as well as have customers returning to their store.

Another day today! Is any place selling the Wii today?

There is another side to that, not everyone wants to shop in the hell that is black friday. Do they want people to show up and just get frustrated and say "fuck this store"?

So whats the verdict, they will be easily buyable in the next couple weekls then? Isn't, nintendo pumping them out a lot faster then any other system?

Yes. The next shipments will be tomorrow (Friday) at EB Games/Gamestop, and Sunday at Best Buy.

Now go eat some turkey!

Jesus, it's Thanksgiving. Go eat some turkey.

Mmmm... tryptophan.

I hate turkey... almost as much as I hate gatherings. I know some store is making people work on thanksgiving, and they have wii in stock at said store.

Do you know the name of "said store" by any chance?

Okay, I was just checking in case you were gonna hold out on us and make us beg or something, I didn't mean to make you mad.

Unfortunately people are not rational. If that was the case then lying to customers would be a bad business practice.
