The Wii is the only console I have seen where demand actually increased after launch. On launch day it was relatively easy to get as far as console launches go. The week after launch I went to Best Buy because they had them in their Sunday ad. I got there half an hour before opening and got on easily. After that, things really started going crazy. I had to buy more for various family members (mainly because they loved mine) and in the runup to Xmas things got worse and worse every week (longer lines to wait in, having to get there hours beforehand and then not getting one, ...). If you want empirical proof that this is the case just look at ebay. the first two weeks Wiis were going for $350-$400. After that prices actually escalated to the $450-$500 range. The prices on ebay are STILL in the $350 range. That means that the demand for Wiis is still about the same as it was right after launch (ironic that the first two weeks of launch were probably the easiest time to find them). However, this also means that demand has decreased significantly from the craziness of mid-December to late December. I think it will still be amonth or so before things really start to calm down. Nintendo has produced a console that has produced more hype, word of mouth advertising, and people trying one and then just HAVING to buy one type of publicity than I have EVER seen in a video game console. I have never seen a console actually become more difficult to find after launch even with the runup to Xmas. The PS2, PS3, and 360 prices all continued to fall as Xmas approached, ebayers who think that consoles get higher prices the week before Xmas are idiots who end up losing their money EXCEPT with the Wii, that is the only time this has ever happened.
Please don't splooge on anyone's Wii.to splooge on one.
Its selling like hotcakes everywhere.
The craze will die down eventually once other console prices drop and the novelty wears off. They'll still sell well, but it won't be hard to find one i'd imagine like it is today.
Yeah around here the Ebay jihad squads keep rounding all the units up..bastards..
I just went to gamestop today to pick up rainbow six and they had ps3's, but no wii's.
Was about March of the following year. Wii shouldn't be that long though because they're shipping far more.how long did the xbox 360 sell out for before you could get one off the shelf?
