Why yes, another "rate my build" thread

dont get thermaltake psu. look for corsair or earthwatts from antec. soundcard is fine as long as you have good enough speakers to go with it. otherwise, its useless. 4GB of RAM is fine as long as you're not doing anything too strenuous on it. i got 8GB personally because i like to game and have a bunch of stuff in the background and my sister does art on photoshop and whatnot. i also like to video edit as a hobby. thats why 8 GB is good for me.

^^
And .. you're pairing high end gear with a trashy mATX motherboard while getting a case that is a full size tower?
Not to mention an overpriced video card ($500 was the price what, couple months ago; ~$3XX now) and ram that cost more than some ddr3...

+1 for Asus PQ5 Pro.

+1 for Corsair 620HX. Steer clear of that power supply.

Woops I didn't notice it was a mini-motherboard. Doesn't my wish list say I'm getting 2x 4 gig of ram? I swapped out for the EVGA 780 mobo and corsair PSU. Also what's a good cooling unit to use that's easy to install?

Which monitor/resolution are you using?

Why are you getting 8GB of RAM?

What are you using for speakers/sound setup?

Your choice of the GTX 280 gives me the impression that you're gaming on a 1920x1200 or larger resolution. The EVGA 780i motherboard should work as well as its 750i sibling, but if you're planning a major overclock of the Q9550 I recommend that you get one of the Intel-based motherboards (P45, X38, or X48) instead.

If you are gaming at a resolution less than 1920x1200, get a different card.

The HDT-S1283 is a good choice in a CPU cooler, but to make mounting it easier for you, pick up the ACK-I7751 retention bracket as well.

Don't get the Corsair VX550 from NewEgg. Get it elsewhere -- Amazon, Provantage, Buy.com, or ZipZoomFly, among others -- for less, or choose a different power supply that's on sale, like the Antec EA650.

If fact, if you're considering a multi-(video) card setup (which you should get only if you're going to be gaming at a resolution greater than 1920x1200), you should get a power supply that's rated to handle either SLI or CrossFire. One such PSU is the Corsair TX750, which you could get for around $105 at either Amazon or Buy.com.

So if I'm gaming at 1680 x 1050, what video card should I get instead? I prefer an Nvidia. I'll need 8 gigs of ram because I do alot of modeling / photoshop / unreal editing.
