As above, what is the benefit of having a back plate, does it really help cool down your card?
I have a GTX570 and am waiting for the arctic cooling Xtreme Plus to be delivered so i can install it, would the evga back plate help make the aftermarket cooler not bend the card so much? I know the 580 backplate fits the 570 card.

Thanks.

Not really cooling.

It does help with bending, as mentioned, and it helps protect the backside PCB from any physical damage.

Yea you wouldn't want any stray rocks hitting your PCB while your kids are playing in the case..

Protects the PCB, also some of the pins on the back of the PCB can be quite sharp, so it protects you from them as well. And finally provides support should you be using an aftermarket cooler
