Why doesn't anyone have a Kingwin case?

I just bought one but it doens't seem very popular. What's up with that? I think it's a good case (kt-424). All aluminum with a removable mobo tray and window for only 90 bones. A little plain but classic and not too Gimmicky. So, go buy a Kingwin already so I'm not alone!!!

I'm thinking about it. But I don't know what to do with beige drives on a black case.

Hmm... I am intrigued by your ideas.

I've also been thinking about this case. The black one with the window. Looks super nice.

And it got a KickAss Award for a mid range case from Maximum PC in the last case shootout.

Can you guys post some pics with systems built, half built, and wire management.
That would be awesome. And major thanks to anybody that posts some pictures.

I'm pretty satisfied with my KT-424-BK too. A removeable mobo tray aluminum case w/ 2.0mm thick panels for under $100 is great.

It's not perfect though, stock fans are a bit noisy so you may want to swap them out for Panaflos. Then remove the stamped fan grills and you're basically all set. The only current problem I have is that the front intake mesh part gets dusty really easily, so I'm always wiping the dust off every week. I guess if I got the silver KT-424 instead, I wouldn't see the dust as easily.

I was seriously considering the KT-424 but opted to spend $15 more and get a Lian Li PC-61. The KT-424 looks like it is a really nice and well built case and has gotten great reviews. I may get one if I do another project.

Yeah Jello, I have the same problem, dust builds up quik.
and I cut out my fan grills, added an illuminated switch, its a nice clean simpe case

i had the 424 for a while and it was a GREAT case. i just switched over to my friend's Coolermaster though.. but i still love the Kingwin. the rubber HD mounts and the drive slide locks kick ass. in fact, i'd have to say it's an overall EQUAL to a Lian Li for a much lesser price.

I built my cousin's computer in a KT-424, and I must say, I am very impressed with the case. For $94, you can't go wrong. It may look a little plain, but I appreciate it's simple bezel and overall clean look. With some skillful wiring and some nice lighting, you'll have a very attractive case on your hands. I'll have to take some pictures next time I visit them...

I believe that previous employees of Lian-Li came up with the kingwin case, I think kingwin bought the design from beantech, very similiar, and the power button has beantech stamped on it.

Thank you very much. I used a 3" hole saw. It is about 75mm, works out perfect. The hardest part was getting it centered. I must have spent 15 minutes for each hole. Measure 5 time because you can only cut once. Also be sure to use a center punch to keep the hole saw from wandering when you start out. For the plexi, you need to go slow and never let it get to hot or it will melt. Cut for 15 seconds or so and let it cool, then continue until you are through. For the blow hole I came back with a grinding stone mounted in my drill to smooth out the edges. On the pic of the back you can see I also removed the factory grill over the exhaust fan (more flow). I just used a hack saw blad to cut it out and then grinded to smooth it out.

I think I'll start a new thread in the case mod section for any other questions.

I have the case... i love it, only 2 little things that i can live with

fan controller is under the front panel, in a quiet room where at night you want to turn everything low it can be a pain and the floppy drive slide installer thing doesn't work on my floppy drive... so you have to use screws...

i also wacked off the little plastic door with the usb and firewire ports... but its cool

KT436 is the bomb. Removable mobo tray, etc. I am not sure why they quit making this one. Way easy and I am looking to get another one at some point. If you can find one, but it...

Forgive my slight highjacking but I've been wondering about the 'rubber mounting' of HDDs for a while... I assume the Kingwin comes with it's own screws for the HDD bays... Any idea if that type of screws are readily available anywhere?

I've had a bunch of little rubber grommets I bought laying around for a long ass time now and I've never bothered to check if I could fit them into my current case. Enlarging the hole wouldn't be a problem but I'm not sure standard HDD screws would cut it lenght-wise after I've added the grommets.

The 424 does have a couple nice touches like the filter and the half-split easy-disconnect wires for the front bezzel stuff that goes to the mobo.

yeah they use special screws but i'm sure you can use any screws you want. just make sure the teeth are the same and that the screws are a bit longer to clear the rubber mounts.

this case got the "kick ass" review on Maximum PC mag of this month for mid range priced cases.....I would have loved one, but they are not sold where I live!!!!! damn it  and ordering online will cost even more with shipping and taxes.....ah well :(
