Why do people install SSDs on laptops?

Voice recognition. And everything else :)

My Dad's a doc, and I recommended an SSD to him. He has found that it has increased how many dictations he can do per day, and has greatly appreciated the boot times, and launch speeds.
 
You'll be on your second or third or fourth notebook by the time your SSD is expected to go kaput.
 
I agree that SSD's shine in laptops more than desktops. 2.5" HDD's are usually slow, loud, they use more energy, are susceptible to shock, etc.
 
I agree as well that a SSD shines more in a laptop...as my friend had a core 2 duo laptop on its way out...but he couldn't afford to get a new one....so he put an SSD in it..and it become faster then our friend's i5 laptop..(on everyday tasks that is)
