Which is better? I dont know much about nvidia cards so figured I'd ask here I tried to forums search to see but didnt turn any thing up.

A bba 9800pro 256meg http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-361&depa=1

or for like 30 bucks more http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-130-202&depa=1

eVGA nVIDIA GeForce 6800 Video Card, 128MB GDDR, 256-bit Ive heard nvidia wins the open gl war and with doom 3 almost here (HELLL YES) I had a x800 pro on order from fry's but it doesnt look like its gonna come.... (bastards) or any suggestions on a card for 350 or less (the egg preferable fry's makes me not want to trust other company's)

The 6800 will beat the 9800 in pretty much every benchmark. Plus, its a generation ahead. Go for the 6800. If you can get a little extra $$, check out the 6800GT. Its a bit faster, and has 256mb.

cool thx and big oops on my part mods can u move this to video cards section? i was looking at both with 2 diff windows and accidentposted on wrong one :) sorry
so even with 128 mb's less memory it still does better... What about compared to a x800 pro?

Ah, sorry. Found the topic before you posted for the second time and had to go outside for a little bit.. came back and replied without refreshing.

I wouldn't worry about that reseller rating since chumbo.com is bfgtech's online partner and is linked through their website to buy their cards.

Umm...you can overclock 25mhz for free. Even if you get a crappy overclocking card, you can at least get an extra 25mhz out of it...

uh well it was just a suggestion since both cards are the same price why not?
Oh, didnt realize they are the same price. Yeah, go ahead and get that oc! :D

The BFGs are a tossup for me. I like that there blue, match my mobo, but why did the stip down the heatsink?

I would guess the 6800 would do better in newer games by a moderate margin but i don't have any [H]ard evidence to back up such a claim.

so the lowest of the low 6800 beats a ati x800pro???
The 6800 will do better than the 9800 series, but not the x800Pro. If you want better than an x800Pro get a 6800GT.

keep in mind also, if you get teh evga 6800, and can scrap together anohter $100 in 3months, you can upgrade it to a 6800GT...i think thats what im gunna do

eVGA has a trade in program. You trade in your $300 6800 and then only pay $100 more for the GT.

Yeah, I forget the URL, search for eVGA trade up program on google, youll find it

Get the 6800. Its about 15-30% faster than the 9800XT on average

6800GT > x800pro > 6800 > 9800XT > 9800PRO
