Using an unreleased, unannounced droid phone

Will switch to the next in line when this one is released :p

using an HD2 with CM7

Nexus Prime is my anticipated upgrade

Palm Pixi+ on Page Plus wireless

Moved on from iPhone 3GS, I was dinged with the DataPro plan by ATT and I didn't want to pay $120+ monthly.

Personally using HTC Hero.

Anticipating move to Nexus Prime and/or Nokia's WP7

HTC Incredible

Next phone will be Nexus Prime or iPhone 5. I might take a shot with Mango.

Using a Samsung Vibrant now.

My next phone is between the iPhone 5 and Google Nexus phone.

I'm sick and tired of not getting updates to my phone for 8 to 12 months after it's been released (if ever), so if I stick with Android, I'm pretty sure it's got to be a Nexus phone. However I've been kinda disappointed with Android's stability and battery life and not sure if Ice Cream Sandwich is going to fix everything.

iPhone 5 is on my list because I'd love to have a phone that actually works all the time. No screwing around with it, no rebooting, no having to kill apps, no wondering WTF is my phone running so hot for when I'm not even using it? However there are some pretty severe trade offs, a smaller screen (this might be the biggest reason I don't go with an iPhone 5), no micro SD or micro USB. And since the iPad 2 is a major PITA to jailbreak, I'm worried the iPhone 5 might be tough as well, so that could kill my ability for free wireless tethering (wish carriers were a little more reasonable with the tethering fees).

Right now I think I'm leaning 65% Nexus and 35% iPhone 5. But I know so little solid info on the iPhone 5. If it's hardware really wows me, it could still possibly win me over.

Current phone: Droid Bionic

Next phone: Whatever's good in 2 years if I need to upgrade. Otherwise, I'll stick with the Bionic.

Current - LG Thrill (Sold the Infuse 4G yesterday)

Future - Most likely the Nexus. Purchased the Thrill off contract, so I can upgrade any time I want.

Current - Moto Droid OC'd to 1.1 GHz and running any ROM that keeps it running decent, lol.

Next - Samsung Google Nexus Prime Galaxy S 4G or whatever the hell else they might call it before it even gets announced :p.

Current: Samsung Vibrant

Next phone: Nexus Prime if it's the killer phone everyone hopes it is...if it's not I'll wait until the third generation Galaxy S.

It sounds like Google is cracking down on that and working with manufacturers to get updates out for a minimum of two years after release on a limited timeline. Your problem with the Vibrant is T-mobile, not Samsung.

Galaxy S II - Bell mobility

Going to Proooobably pick up the LTE version on rogers and rock it on my bell plan (They have LTE in my area! WOOOO (And no phones with it ;) )

I miss my iPhone 4 for media, so I'm picking up a used Samsung focus and dropping a 32gb SD Card in the bitch.

Next heavily anticipated phone? iPhone 5. I want to see what it brings to the table.

Using an Android. I fucking hate android.

Next: anything but Android, hopefully iPhone.

Fuck android.

Current: Original Motorola Droid (stock)

Next: either an iPhone 5 (if it has 4G LTE), Droid Bionic, or Nexus Prime (or whatever it is called).

Yeah, I know. Even more reason why I'm getting either a Nexus or iPhone. Carriers have way too much control on their branded Android phones. I can't believe Vibrant owners are not getting Gingerbread because T-Mobile decided not to support it anymore. Argh.

And I'm just not convinced that Google's "crack down" really has any teeth. Sounds more like a recommendation than anything. Google could pull their support (Google Apps), but I doubt they would if Samsung or the carriers still continue to not provide timely updates or support the products for 18 months. Just don't think anything really going to change.

Yeah, what T-mobile did was the straw that broke the camel's back for me so I'm taking my family plan to Sprint when the contract is up.

Currently using a Sprint Epic Touch 4G. Love, love love it. Love it as much as OEM hates android. (seriously dude, if you hate it that much to make a rant your sig, don't be such a cheapskate and BUY SOMETHING ELSE!)

As for my next phone, who knows? I could say the Galaxy Note but who knows when that will get here if ever at all.

Currently on a Samsung Vibrant running CM7 on AT&T

Will be selling the Vibrant soon. The CM developers have abandoned it, and so, I feel like its time to send it off to the great eBay wasteland and I'll be getting either the international Galaxy S2, or LG Optimus 2X.

Good AOSP suppport is a MUST for a phone if I'm not getting a Nexus, and so it looks like the Optimus 2X is gonna win, bc the CM team has a very good handle on it, whereas the GS2 is still very incomplete....

Jeez, what's with the trolling fanbois lately?

He got a little butthurt over either an OG Droid or a Droid 2, I forget which.

And in response to his post signature, I just used my samsung GS II ALL DAY (8am off the charger, 11pm back on ) with probably 70% awake time (Playing music nearly all day. ) about 20% screen on time, Radio enabled the entire time, Sent around 50-75 texts (Guessing here, but muuuuch less than usual. )

Not a single crash, force close, touch screen weirdness, There was no car battery, and my phone made my day a lot nicer.

These things can happen.

I'm on an Optiums right now and loving it. I may decide to go to the Optimus Black once it's out on vmo, not a big fan of the Triumph at all.

On Samsung Captivate, will be getting the Attain when it comes out next Sunday.

Still got my verizon HTC Incredible 1st Gen from release date running CM7. Waiting on Prime or iPhone5(only if it has 4G LTE....)

I want a phone with a <= 4" screen and 1280x720 pixels, preferrably AMOLED or IPS. Good screen quality is most important for me. The 'normal' LCDs just look so sad when you had AMOLED.

Hopefully, the upcoming Nexus Prime will evolve in that direction. Concerning software, I see only three options: Stock Android, Android with HTC Sense or Windows Phone. Everything else is a no-go for me.

Go Launcher is where its at.

Current: LG Envy 3 :D

Future: Hopefully Verizon + Nokia Windows Phone 7.5

I've had my upgrade available since March, but I'm holding out for WP. I'm really in no hurry :)

Current: T-mobile HTC G2 (Love it and don't NEED to upgrade yet, but if something new comes along...)
Future: Was trying to figure that out as well, thinking the Nexus Prime maybe... I would really like another physical qwerty keyboard again though.

After my experiences with LG, I'm going to urge you to run like hell from anything with their logo on it. Holy hell, this has been the worst phone I've ever owned. Amazon can't ship me out a replacement soon enough.

Are your problems hardware or software based? I know the 2X caught lots of flak for the buggy software it came with, but recent articles i've read seemed to indicate that these have been fixed by patches..... and for people like me, AOSP roms...

:( All I want is a 4+ inch phone with good AOSP support and dual cores

As of right now: Phone reboots constantly, battery loses about 10%/hour while idle, sound is so low, if the the phone is speaker-side down on my couch next to me, it's inaudible. Everything seems to be the same as it was with the G2x, but even with an early CM7 build and a custom rom by gtg465x (pretty much the only stuff out there), it still has just as bad a battery and audio. It reboots constantly with CM, but since it's an early alpha build, I won't count it against the phone.

That being said, the rest of the phone: The materials, the feel of the glass screen, the heft, the solid construction are wonderful. The screen is the only phone aside from the iphone where it FEELS like glass. Hopefully I just got a dud, but I'm not the only ones having this issue. I'll be swapping it for a Nexus or an Atrix2 for sure.

Android.

Just upgraded again, to android.

With this new android phone, i don't even need a laptop anymore really.... so android, but not for another 3+ years.

Any hate on android is laughably nonsense, especially when they don't give a reason --- obvious fanboy hate.

Android does everything I need, and still has the hardware for things that aren't even available yet (Google Wallet). Should be getting it next month, though :)

And yes, if you buy an android phone, stay away from LG anything really...

They are piss poor quality now, not because of android but because of LG sucking ass at quality control

OS: Mango (7.5) > iOS > Android
Apps: iOS > Android > Mango
UX: Mango > Android > iOS > Android (w/ Blur)

Cumulative Score:
Mango: 3 + 1 + 4 = 8
iOS: 2 + 3 + 2 = 7
Android: 1 + 2 + 3 = 6
Android (w/ Blur): 1 + 2 + 1 = 4

Android has a little bit to go. Especially if it has Moto Blur...

*Note that without that Blur crap from Motorola, Android would have gotten the same cumulative score as iOS. Seriously, Sense, especially, and TouchWiz may actually be better launchers than Android default. Blur is just total crap.

*Also note that hardware manufacturing quality cannot be averaged. Manufacturers would make low-end phones that would drag down an average.
