which phone should i get?

basically i need to to use this phone for email, web browsing streaming videos and apps.

Oh, well then, for those requirements, I recommend you get a smart phone! :p

Here's a list of phones that meet that criteria. ;)

Plus all Windows Phones, iOS, and Blackberry phones. Pretty decent selection, I'd say.

for being a "computerpro" you give us zero information and then expect us (total strangers) to decipher your needs, wants, budget.

Get the iphone5 -- it would suit your lack of effort that's apparent in this thread you have created. The best part about getting the iphone is that apple will tell you exactly what to buy and what you need after that, no more thinking or effort on your part, yay!

Sorry but I couldn't help myself and had a fit of laughter.

Like... wait 3-4 weeks and get either the S5 or HTC One(2014).... these will be the BEST phones on the market. If you buy any of the phones you mention you are buying obsolete technology.

I am quite happy with my WP 8 device, but then again I primarily use it as a *GHASP* a phone and hotspot for my laptop

I prefer Nokia as IMHO they are pretty much trouble free and have a stellar reliability record.

on a serious note -- I just bought my Nexus 5, love it! Best part is, it's 350 and i own it. No contracts, no phone payment, nothing.

Unless you are the president of the united states, fingerprint scanning for both apple and samsung, are mostly a gimmick. I'm pretty sure nobody wants to see my texts/pics/whatever.

Not sure how much an S5 will cost off contract? something like 700-800 dollars I'm guessing?

You could get a s4 for pretty cheap when the s5 comes out. They are already $399 in my area so they should drop down to $300 real soon.

What does anyone think of the smaller-sized phones like the Samsung Galaxy mini S4 for video recording? (It also has GPS.) :)

President? lol quite the exaggeration. How about the millions of people who use credit card scanners on their phone, or anyone else who needs the phone to be quickly accessible and cant wait to type in passwords.

This is what I am waiting for, the hardware is excellent despite being over a year old.

Play around with that till around January, by then the N6 will be out and all the bugs worked out so i'll sell the S4 and get the N6.

Go with the Blackberry Z30.

Not sure if you are serious or not... but in all seriousness, my friend has one and it's a tremendous phone. Reception is INCREDIBLE! Nice and fast. Screen looks nice. Battery life is incredible as well.

No, it doesn't have the games iOS or Android does... but as a "PHONE"... it's an excellent device. Seriously. :)

Actually it does have all the games and apps of Android.

Just hold tight. I am still using my GS3. Despite being almost 2 years old, with 4.3 is still a great phone. Gonna wait for the S6 or what ever the best phone in another year is.
