which one to upgrade to???

I'm running my sig below.

Someone on Anandtech is willing to trade me his E6600 for $50 plus my Far Cry 2 game.

I would probably sell my E2180 for $30, or give it to my sister if I don't sell it.


Currently, my E2180 is running at 3.2ghz, under 1.4375 Vcore after Vdroop on my EVGA 680i SLi board. would it be better for me to upgrade to an E7200 or E8400? Or should I go ahead on trade for an E6600?

A side note: Be careful with trading as many have gone sour before. It's best not do any trading unless you know or have done business with such person before. I would go with E8400 unless you have application that really requires Quad core.

an E6600 is NOT a quad core.

and the guy has been an ebay member for almost 9 years, with all 100% positive feedback. i think he is trusted.

I'm gunna try to talk him down to closer to $40. i think that'd be a well worth it upgrade.

this link helped me alot.

the extra cache on the E6600 helps it keep up with an overclocked E7200, when the E6600 is overclocked as well.

basically i'm getting an E7200 for $70 ish. That can't be beat!

I can deal with higher temps. besides, its all going under a xigmatek i think (or other high end cooler), so temps are an issue.

what do you guys think?

and the guy has been an ebay member for almost 9 years, with all 100% positive feedback. i think he is trusted.

Certainly! I'm getting a I7 920 and I will be getting rid of my E2200 once I have everything running smoothly.

what do you guys think?

I think you would have a much easier chance of hitting 3.8Ghz with the E7200 than hitting 3.6 to 3.7Ghz with the E6600. However, considering that you can't return the game (Saw your GenMayhem thread) and that's already a sunk cost (meaning that it should not be added to actual total), an upgrade to the E6600 for $50 is a pretty sweet deal. It would be an upgrade over your current E2180.
