Hey, I want to know which CPU cooler I should get if I want to OC my 3500+. Thanks in advance and please post reasons.

I'm kinda leaning toward the Zalman 7700 because of the all copper + 120mm design.

I really trying to bottleneck the cost here, I need the most I can save. I also have to buy a PSU for $50, and a mousepad for $12 (LOL).

That one I linked came with a Fan for $30....

OR you can get a TTake XP-90, paired with a NICE 120MM.

Amazing cooling power :)
its thermalright for one and why would you pair a 120mm fan with it? the fan wont blow air on the heatsink since the fan is too big for the heatsink and all the air would be blown around the heatsink instead of directly down on it....

i would rather get the stock X2 cooler for $15 off of ebay which cools similarly to the xp90 ;)

Oh man. I'm so tired right noe, my bad :/

YES, it IS ThermalRight. I mean't 92 MM, the XP-120 has the 120 MM, duh

XP-90C...small and probably the best cooler IMO, it is heavy but I havent had any problems concerning that department. Easy to install and a beauty to look at

well if I do go for the heatsink only, then i'd reach for the Scythe Ninja. But should I just go for the scythe ninja, and switch my 120mm exhaust onto it, and replace the 120 I switched with an 80mm? or just 7700? Thanks everyone

Min Price -> Max Price

Stock HSF->Scythe Ninja->SI-120->Zalman 9500

I chose the SI-120 w/ medium panaflo (29C idle, 39-40 load: Opty 170@2.6ghz), temps are probably off on my board though. But I have always liked Thermalright products. I left the XP-90 out because it uses 92mm fans and would rather have less noise. I owned a 92mm HS previously and it was loud, no thanks. I have heard great things about the Scythe Ninja and it was my second choice. The Zalman was my third choice but in the end I didn't like that it didn't allow secondary cooling for my ram.

I'd get the scythe ninja, you can get 120mm panaflo's off svc.com. I got a couple about two weeks ago for 5 bucks each.

120mm Panaflo

im pretty sure the Scythe ninja is better than the SI-20

Anyway if you are limiting it to $46, pick up a scythe ninja and a cheap 120mm fan. Thats what I did and it works great.

the scythe ninja and TT big typhoon are arguably the best air cooling devices on the market. i'd grab the ninja if i were you.

How about the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro? It keeps my Clawhammer at 40C under load. Pretty quiet too.

yeah, i've been looking at the reviews now and i've limited to the Scythe for $40 (i have my own 120mm fan) or the Arctic for $30. which please?

all i'm looking for a cpu cooler that's compatible with my mobo, not expensive, but lowers temperatures enough for me to OC with no problem.

To be honest, theres alot of heatsinks that fit in that catagory. :p

Personaly, if you arnt worried about cost, the ninja scythe is great. Im not sure how well it cools a oc'd cpu without a fan but, I do want to get one myself to see. :p

The arctic freezer 64pro, XP-90, SI-120, Ninja, Typhoon. Those are the popular ones.

Personaly, I recently sold my XP-90 and in exchange to use my amd 165 stock copper heatpipe sink and my temps are great even with being overclocked. Still at like 33-34C idle and 42-43C load. If you wanted that, those cost like $15-$20.

thanks a ton, but does anyone know if i'd get better temps with the 7700cu or the Arctic Freezer 64 Pro

new 3 coolers to choose from, all Zalman
CNPS7000B-Cu LED for $40
7700Cu for $45
9500 for $55

Thanks in advance

9500 will give you best cooling, but i still like the 7700's design for a lower profile heatsink

scythe ninja with yate loon 120mm fan beats all others! :D

QFT, dropped my idle/load temps 10c compared to the stock cooler.

hmm... does anyone know about the Thermaltake Blue Orb II? It's around the same price as the Zalman 7700, $10 more than the AC Freezer Pro, and about $10 less than the 9500.

i'm kinda steering away from the expensive coolers considering it's winter time and i'm not going to overclock my 3500+ until I can find out how to with my bios, which would be great if anyone can help me.

zalman produces one performance cooler in my mind and its the 9500 dont go for any other ones as pretty as they may be they just don't perfrom for the price.

since price is something you seem to keep harping on I woudl buy a x2 cooler off ebay put a decent fan on it and call it a day.

dont get the 7700 they just don't make any sense to me at all

if it were me I would buy any cooler that took a 120mm fan and run with it.
any cooler out there that takes a 120 mm fan will do what you ask it to just not the weaker zalman offering

my used xp-120 with a panaflo cost me 25 bux plus 5 bux for the special clip that the jerk I bought it from didnt tell me he wasnt sending, I idle at 75f degrees, its 72f degrees in the room load temps max out now around 104f

best money i ever spent.
