As soon as I get enough money for a DFI motherboard, I plan on overclocking the hell out of the system in my sig. Any recommendations for a good hsf? I was looking at the Zalmans, the xp-90, and the xp-120 if it would fit. Any suggestions from those or possibly something else? Also, any inputs on whether the system in my sig would be a good overclocker once I get a better motherboard would be welcome.
 
The XP-90/120 are more flexible because you can use whatever kind of fan you want (right size of course). They are comparable in terms of cooling. The XP-120 will cool better, but it isn't a large difference over the XP-90. The XP-90 is generally more compatible. There's also a XP-90c all copper version, but it's like $20 more than the regular XP-90. Not sure if you're going to get $20 worth of extra cooling out of it since the XP-90 is such a good cooler anyway.
 
the zalmans are way quiet...but they haven't proved to work too well when the cpu is being overclocked (wow i've posted this phrase...three times in two days :eek:)

I tend to have an extremly cool case in a very cold room (under 60F), so as long as it can cool a bit better than the stock, and is quiter, I'm there.
 
Yea, I have been away from the cpu scene for about a month or 2 and have lost alot of knowledge. I think I may go with the Xp-90 just for the fact that unless the 120 isnt much heavier, I dont want any board warpage
 
id say go for an xp90, price to performance ratio is huge, when the xp90 is priced at 25 bucks from SVC using the coupon xp90. the xp120 is pretty light, but so will your wallet be after buying it, and a decent fan. and for 40 bucks, you can get an xp90 and a tornado(or quieter price equivalent) to fit your cooling needs.
