Im struggling between these two choices, galant and vika amon:

http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/S19852113/#/S69806816

Its for a small room, i guess the dimension i want should be close to 120cm x 60cm, should be able to bear dual monitors and if necessary can take a mid range case just barely. Personally i like the minimilist appearance and design of vika amon, but from forums most note its wobbly features, i dont know if thats a big deal though. Are wobbly desks a hindrance to gaming?

The galant on the other hands looks stable as it harnesses a metal frame underneath the particleboard. But not stylish.

Well, there is also the price difference. A pretty big one in comparisons. The first thing I noticed was the wobble factor of the first. I personally would spend the extra money and get something that'll last and has some serious weight to it. As far as a hindrance in gaming, it could be depending on what you're playing.. The Galant also looks like it'll support what you need with ease, the other one looks kinda small and crowded.

you are right, the price difference might incline me to choose the vika regardless. here are pics of galant and vika i scored from google:

the vika contains compressed paper, cant say how bad that is. I still havent made my mind as to whether keep the case on or under the desk, as the latter while convienant will give me dust filter trouble from what i hear.

I'm still using my Vika Amon. It's still usable but if you have a tendency to lean forward on your elbow to read something or tend to spill quite a bit of liquids or tend to hit your table quite often with your fist at the same spot (don't ask), the Vika Amon probably isn't the best of choices since you'll eventually get dents/indentations on the desk itself.

Then again, I've had my Vika Amon since 2007 so it took about 5 years for all of the actions I mentioned above to finally damage the table cosmetically. I currently have four LCD monitors + two exxternal drives + various books and misc crap on the desk right now. As long as you tighten the screws as much as possible, it's not that noticeably wobbly.

Not bad for a table that I paid $50 for (including the 59" table top and legs) during one of Ikea's sales.

If you are more after the "4 legs" look, you don't have to get the T legs for the Galant. They do make an "A" leg configuration, which does look a lot better IMO, and is cheaper to boot.

*Coming from someone with 2x 80x120cm Galants in Black/Browm*

it is cheaper with the A-leg i suppose but have a look here at it: http://i.imgur.com/bvBJR.jpg

my room as i said is small, I dont want to waste space between the wall and the desk which these legs certainly do. In other words, i want a desk that sits against all wall. If i have the space sure it looks nice.

there is a third option here, Fredrik desk, not too popular because of how the frame looks: http://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/00161682/#/00161682

edit: i may have been wrong about the A leg, http://i.imgur.com/j35dL.jpg it may not leave that big of a gap between it and the wall.
