I am planning on building a box for the main purpose of video editing. I am hearing 2 schools of though on which chip to use. If my needs revolve around using one HUGE program (Adobe Premiere Elements) would I be better to get a faster single chip or go with the dual core technology?!?

Any info would be helpful.

Thanks in advance,

Bill

9x0 is the best and covers all budgets Billy boy....

If you are willing to OC the 920 is by far the best choice. If you aren't, and money is no object, drop for a 955EE.

920 being the best Intel choice. If you're not OCing or only mildly OCing, the X2 3800+ is a better choice, plus the mobos are cheaper ;). If you plan on getting a 920 and OCing it to 4Ghz+, the 920 is definitely a good option.

Asus , Gigabyte , Abit 945P based mobo are 100-150$.

What cheaper mobos are there better than the above ?

If you are building your own go with AMD X2, if you are just buying OEM then Pentium D or whatever they call it now, is that best choice.

If you're going to buy a new motherboard now, you might as well get a 975X one so you at least have a chance at using newer CPU's when they arrive. 975X are $200+
