I've been using IE7 Beta 2 since a long time and I simply lovew it. But i'm tired of this bug which it has in where it never saves your cookies, you always have to type your password on message boards, etc...

So I'm using IE6 now. Do you think I should switch to teh firefoX? i didn't like teh interface though when I used it once in teh past :(

Firefox and IE7 beta 2 have very similar interface. Also, firefox has mouse gestures! :D

Also, firefox complies to standards and that makes for safer browsing.

Umm, yeah.

I was using IE 7 Beta 2 before I got this new harddrive but now I just use Firefox. IE7 Beta 2 (or even IE6) was good but felt scared when using it :D.

Long Live Firefox.

I'm using firefox but it's been a while since I looked around out there. I should probably check them all out again. I like firefox and have no complaints but I hate being one of those guys who is loyal to one product but hasnt looked at other options for years.

I really liked Opera the last time I checked it out but it just felt slower to me. My boss still uses avant browser and is still bitching that it's buggy and crashy but it has a lot of features which he likes.

Ok in that case i'm gonna try out FireFox once more. Hope I get used to teh interface.

Opera 8.whatever is the best browser I have ever used. The tab support and gestures are very well integrated, it's faster than firefox plus most stable, and if your computer crashes, when you restart it will remember all the pages you had on tabs so you don't have to load everything up again.

Im using IE7 beta2 on my windows box. Its much snappier than FF and doesnt seem to suffer from the "if u leave me open for a week ill crap your box out with my memory leak issues" problem. And seriously guys. You only get spyware if you are going to sites you shouldnt be ;)

Firefox on my Linux workstation.

in my experience, the FF "memory leak" problem has more to do with poorly coded sites and plugins than anything else. using FF's about:config page i have been able to follow a few tweak guides and figure some out on my own that prevents FF from hogging alot of memory it thinks it needs from sites i have long since left.

i've only used IE7 on vista beta, which i also installed FF 1.5 on, and FF is still faster there as well.

one advantage IE gives me is when i'm helping people remotely, the drag-and-drop FTP feature of IE comes in real handy when you're dealing with folks who have no idea what FTP is. don't think we'll ever see that feature in FF.

Opera Win32.

I love it how I can:

Install as a limited user to only my user space, still have Java work and easily configure from opera:config ( and without relying on the registry) exactly what directories are scanned for plug-ins.

Open 20 different versions of Opera at the same time all using their own profiles.

Configure tab handling exactly how I want it.

Easily customize the UI.

Toggle plugins, cookies, ua, gif animation etc. with F12.

Easily tweak plug-in actions.

Subscribe to and read feeds like they're email.

Fire up the built-in chat client or use built-in bittorrent support instead of using externals.

Run Opera on a p133 without too much problem if I want.

Move through Opera's UI at super speeds. (The UI is clean and efficient.)

Resume downloads. (Ones that I didn't even manually stop.)

Use Opera as is without the need to add stuff to it. (Features are built-in.)

Use g + search by default to search google.

Use an internal or external source viewer.

Using M2 or an external email client with command line options to configure how Opera passes to the client.

Not worry about a feature dependencies.

Reopen closed pages.

Minimize and resize pages inside the main window plus casade and tile them inside the main window.

Turn on validation to make Opera be a validating xml parser.

etc.

Using Opera, I can get more things done. The UI,customization possibilties and the people are just awesome. Standards ( & popular tech) support is great. Unicode support for Windows is awesome too.

Firefox for default basic browsing. Opera for 'different' kind of browsing. And maxthon for IE only websites.

That's the way I do it. Firefox for most sites, Opera for a few sites, and IE only when I absolutely have to, and only then after swearing about it and cursing the web site designers.

Firefox for pretty much everything. Very rarely IE when something doesnt work with firefox - next to never.

Been using Opera for maybe about a year or so now. I just love it. I use Firefox as a backup browser for things that don't work in Opera (very few instances of that). If it doesn't work in Firefox, it probably isn't worth going there in the first place. :)

I was going to say that this forum is pretty much hooked on FF and I guess that poll proves it...

It's quicker with the fox!

For anyone that has liked Opera, Opera 9 will knock your socks off... and for those that weren't fond of it... should give it another try the weekly betas just keeping getting better and better.

opera 9 beta is pretty nice. worlds better than 8.

however, lack of a "find" bar in opera is a deal breaker for me. i don't want to deal with a popup dialog that blocks whatever word on the page i'm looking for every time I hit ctrl+f (frequently.)

also, in firefox the webdev toolbar, measureit, and colorfox save me untold hours when coding pages. opera has nothing to compete, so its back to firefox I go.

going through this thread i was really questioning why i choose to use FF over opera. i definitely have nothing against opera and recognize it's benefits. but i always come back to firefox. is it familiarity? stubbornness? the OSS mantra chanting in my soul?

then i realized: it's the same reason i use winamp to play music files, WMP to play AVI's and MPEG's, outlook for PIM, sygate for a firewall, and nod32 for AV. personally, i prefer to use a single piece of software that does one thing and one thing well. i suppose it's like a religious idea in a way, where i like to stick with many specialists than a single jack of all trades, no matter of the jack does his trades well or not.

in the words of brother sly and his family stone: "different strokes for different folks," that's about the best reson i can come up with as to why i haven't switched to opera completely yet. however, a few posters have given me the idea to use all three, maybe a new religious idea of the holy trinity of web browsers: IE, FF, opera. having grown up catholic, it's errire how that seems to directly coorespond to "father, son, holy spirit" if you look at the history of the browsers, but i digress...

In Opera, the default interface setup is close to what I like. I only have to customize a few things and that only takes a few seconds.

However, I myself believe that if things were set up by default a little differently, more would like Opera from the start.

However, Opera has done extensive testing with the users and the majority deeply approve of the default setup in the Opera 9 builds.

As for the "jack of all trades", that's a good thing for me, but what I've noticed is that even if all those extra features are turned off and not even using any memory etc., it still bugs people, just because. It's kind of like calling Firefox bloated if you have 60 extensions installed, but none of them are enabled. Even if they are not enabled, it'd still bug people.

I use Firefox, but my friend raves on and on about Maxthon, never tried it though.

Windows: IE
Linux: Firefox
Mac: Safari

I voted Firefox cause I'm using Linux right now.

Safari primarily.... When certain sights won't work or ask for another browser I then fire up FireFox.

On Windows XP machines I mostly use IE 7 beta 2. I feel its an improvment over IE 6.

Netscrape 4 FTW!!!!!1111

Konqueror is pretty good. Personaly I use opera for most things and ie 6 as a backup. Firefox just reminds me to much of netscrape and I think opera is just better. I use opera on my linux installs as well as konqueror and ie(under wine).
