On what side of the monitor, and where you are sitting while reading this, do you have your PC case?

To the Left or the Right? ... Or under the monitor itself?

ThanX for voting :)

Oh .... the reason I am asking this is because the vast majority of people I've seen have their
case to their right. Yet case makers insist upon making front panels open to the left. Which
forces people to reach around an open door. Not good ergonomics.

All of the above. Gaming machine is right under the monitor, *NIX workstation is on the left, download machine is on the right, and a laptop further to the right.

all the machines are to the right, makes it easier to open up the side panel when I need to fiddle with them.

that and the fact that those who have an atx style case with a window will want to see the inside of their machine

My case is to the left, and monitor is right in front of me. You can look in the "post pictures of your workstation" thread if you want to see.. But I did it that way because of the glare on my Sony LCD screen. (the shiny coated surface like their laptops have on the screen) The cathodes and LED's would reflect off my monitor when I had my old desk and it was the other way around. Now, my new desk really only has one good place to put it which is on the left. I really don't like my comp sitting on the floor, it drags in much more dust I've found out.

mine is in the left-floor region, which is kind of stupid cause the suckhole on the side probably doesnt get the best airflow, but its the only place that I really can put it

to the riiiiight.
mostly so i can keep an eye on my watercooling through the window to make sure it doesnt spew everywhere.

Um, on the left of my desk on a little riser thats attached to the desk. So kind of on the floor but left and off the ground a good 5 inches... What does that count as?

Mine is to the right on my desk. I love staring at my case with WC and stuff :D

To the left, however I have my CM Stacker setup as a "fake" BTX style case. This way I can see the inside of it- as the right side of the case has another tower next to it.

to the right of me, my case is a btx style with a window so it sits like this == the top line being my wall the bottem one the case, so i can look at the nerdporn in side of it

To the left.... all my previous machines were to the right (like seeing the pretty lights) but I just built a new system and no points for guessing which way the door opens :p

I looked at many cases and any that had the door opening the other way looked naff! I have the Gigabyte Aurora 3D case whcih also has the USB/Firewire ports on the right hand side (looking from the front). Even thought of modding the door so it opens the other way but a lot of them have locks and wierd shapes. There's a Coolermaster stacker thats nice but mucho $$$ :p

I've gotten used to the case on the left hand side though.... I haven't had to open the case yet (pretty reliable build ;) ) and an added bonus is the CPU and GPU fans are loudish (mainly the GPU fan) .... would be quite unpleasent if they were pointing straight at me from the right through the side grill :p

Monitor Left
PC Right, 1 inche from falling off my desk to certain doom.

Ive had mine on everyside of the monitor, left, right, below and above, Right now its on the right, but kinda above it....its a shuttle :D

My case is on the floor to my right because there's another desk very close my mind to the left. My case has a window on the left so I put it slanted... like this ||||desk|||| \\\case\\\ so I can still see the pretty window.

to my right, with the right panel against the wall...you know...with the window fan pointing at me and the ports to the left

It's on the floor to the right of me and my monitor, but it might change pretty soon seeing as i'm trying to think up a way of totally rearranging my room (harder then it sounds)

Well i am an other...kinda weird one at that.

If i am looking forward i have two monitors in front of me hooked up to the computer that is to my left. On the right there is a second computer, with it's own monitor on top of it.

so basically i have one on the left and right...everything i need within arms reach.

once i get my new computer fixed up i'll have to redo this set up, gotta get more deskspace...
maybe i'll get rid of my bed lol

U shaped desk, so layout is like this:

Fileserver (under desk) 19" LCD
24"LCD
Laptop, Game machine (Under desk)

So I could answer yes for both, but primary is on the right.

On floor to the right....Modem, switch and router are to the right on my desk...

I have one of the weirdest setups lol.

Main pc is on the right. Other pc is on the left. Main pc's monitor is on the left, Other is on the right. and i have 2 kb's and 2 mice on the pad lol

Monitor: center of the desk
Gaming TV: on the desk to the right
Crappy comp: lying sideways on top shelf beneath TV, next to PS2, router and cable modem (all standing vertically)
Xbox and Dreamcast: bottom shelf directly below the above
Main comp: on the floor, right side of the desk

It's kind of innaccurate, then, to refer to the whole thing as a "work"station :D
