Whats worth Mining right now (GPU CPU)?

BItcore(BTX) will be a good choice if you have a rig with Nvidia cards.
It is currently 0.0025 btc, but it has good chance to rise much more and will get 5, 6, 7% per every monday until some time in April if you have a balance on wallet.

How would I go about mining BTX? I'm just using NiceHash because I'm a beginner and only using my gaming rig while I build a dedicated mining rig.

Most of information is on the first post here.

Mining guide

Cc miner for Nvidia cards. Try with v2.2.2. Later versions are probably same for this algo.
https://github.com/tpruvot/ccminer/releases.

Mining pool - the fee is little steep, so you could look around later, but compare with nicehash and deside if it's more profitable.

Your bat file for this pool would be like this. Put your wallet address, and play with intensity level on -i.
ccminer(-x64 if you use x64 version) -a bitcore -o stratum+tcp://yiimp.eu:3556 -u WALLET_ADDRESS -p x -i 19

Here you can register your wallet address to get 5% weekly airdrop for your balance.

I can't afford to build a real mining rig, but I could potentially buy a new 1080ti or next gen video card. Right now I still have a 290x. I'm looking for something I could mine with a single card, not trying to make $1000 a month or anything like that. I wish I could but my power bill would be like 3k a month if I ran 20 amps continuous. Power is currently 0.23 a kWh winter and .27kWh summer and it goes up to .47 to .55 depending on how much power I use. Right now I barely keep within the .23 /.27 watt range with my solar install.

So my take on mining is just to be collecting some coins that could become worth something someday, like what happened to litecoin, but I really don't expect much. I don't think I can mine ETH unless I pickup a used tesla Model S with free supercharging and leave it plugged into a supercharger somewhere with my mining rig in the frunk lol.

I do plan to get an electric car soon, which will qualify me for a particular TIme Of Use power plan that makes it expensive to have power 4-9pm but cheap to charge the car at night 9pm-something 7 or something like that. Maybe I could setup my rigs to only mine durring off-peak hours.

Special EV power rates: https://www.sdge.com/sites/default/files/regulatory/1-1-18 Schedule EV-TOU & EV-TOU-2 Total Rates Tables.pdf

In your case, dont bother mining. Go use the money you would have used on the hardware and buy the coins you think will go up. Mining makes sense if its dual use on hardware, but if its just pure speculation you should just do what I suggest.

equihash is currently netting me 3 dollars a card per day with 580s and 79xxs.

If you use awesome miner and miningpoolhub you can direct it to auto switch to a coin you are interested in. I auto swap to litecoin because coinbase is the fastest way for me to cash out if I need the money fairly quickly, plus my wife likes watching the coinbase balance go up. I unchecked every algo but equihash in properties because the auto switching doesn't work well for me.

You can just run NiceHash, it will auto-pick the most profitable coin at the time. I just started with it like 2 days ago, but it seems to be bringing in about $14/day on my Ryzen 1800X + 2x Vega 64.

This is my gaming rig, but I have a bunch of machines and I'm not gaming most of the time, so I'm putting it to use.

Also have a dedicated ETH + LBC miner with 6x GTX 1060 which is pulling in around $400/month give or take.

Nicehash is garbage, and should not be used for regular, full-time mining. Why are they garbage? They were recently majorly hacked, all coins were lost, and there is nothing they can do. For another, their miner only uses maybe 1/3 rd of all the good fast algorythms available, and they take something like a 5% fee from your profits, AND they restrict the minimal amount you can withdraw to some really number which will take a year or so to mine up on a modest system.

Nicehash should only ever be used as a sort of a benchmark, so you can get a VERY rough idea about how much your PC or rig can bring in daily.

You should use individual specific mining pieces of software to mine individual specific units of coins.

That's a bit over dramatic. I hit the minimum withdrawal amount after 5 days and I'm only using one 1060 for 12-16 hours a day. That's a little bit quicker than a year. It's also only a 2% fee on that payout and after about 10 days worth of mining on my system I can transfer that to Coinbase for free.

There are arguments to be made for avoiding Nicehash, especially for more advanced miners or just about the hacking in general, but don't just make stuff up about the payout system.

What coins/algos did you mine?

I've been running NiceHash for a little over a week now, the profitability has gone up and down (due to the market), but I'm getting around $8 - 10 per day w/ an 8-core Intel and 2 GTX 1080's. I haven't got a payout yet, but I should in a few days (so taking around 2 weeks).

I think it's a fine and easy way to get started. I'm also using a dedicated mining machine with 6 GTX 1060's running Claymore dual mining ETH + LBC on Linux. Setting up the miner was more fun, but honestly I was surprised to see how much NiceHash was pulling in on a 2 GPU system versus my 6 GPU miner.

Neoscrypt coins at altminer.net or zpool.ca, or Ethash+PASC at nanopool.org if you can figure out that damn
PASC wallet. I had to have some kid show me like five times, and PASC still makes almost no sense, but no
denying its profitable enough to bite down and force yourself to learn.

For NVIDIA: hsrminer_neoscrypt is giving better Neoscrypt hashes than ccminer 223 Tuprov or 818 KlausT,
and doing so at far lower power. Or maybe lower power just lets the card run faster? Dunno why but it does.

It also throws every virus warning you can imagine. So isolate that rig from anything important accordingly.
Assume everything you type, store on, or can reach from that machine is neither safe or private. Was enough
faster (confirmed at pool) to convince me, Paglinpav probably had more professional intentions than malware.
There is a bug in hsrminer_neoscrypt that won't work with Titan X Pascal, maybe other titans...

There is a KlausT CCMiner 819 now too, I havn't tried it yet...

For AMD: I hear good things about nsgminer, but I can't get it to work. Using GatelessGate instead.
My RX cards are giving about 750Kh apiece, regardless 580 or 570... I just checked again, and its
only 620Kh after some of my extreme settings were were tweaked down for less frequent crashes.

AMD 570 in GatelessGate hashes about same as 1060 3gb in hsrminer_neoscrypt, if you wanted to
make a comparison....

What? You walk in here with that on a noobie account? really?

NH is just fine. Set 2FA up and withdraw daily to CB.

Done.

That's what I wanted to see. Nicehash is fine for beginners- like me. I just withdraw regularly (for no fee) to coinbase, then go from coinbase to my hardware wallet every once in a while

Then you may want to re-test, because in my analysis all he's really done is (once again) taken sourcecode for ccminer, boosted the locally reported hashrate slightly, added a devfee and then posted the miner closed-source to bitcointalk as yet-another-faster-miner.

He ran the same play with the "palginmod" of ccminer-alexis last year, got called out and disappeared. Then this past december he showed up again with "hsrminer". In my testing, pools always less than what hsrminer_neoscrypt commandline claimed.

I'm looking at the pool hashrate, not the miner. Strangely agree.

My 8x 1050ti's got 3200Kh Neoscrypt on KlausT CCMiner 818,
which was notably faster than Trupov's 223 though I no longer
have clear recall of the numbers from 223. Vaguely 3000Kh ish.

Same rig on hsrminer_neoscrypt gave 3400Kh and dropped my
power draw by near a hunded Watts! I bumped up the Wattage
and got 4000Kh, but wasn't entirely stable. Settled on 80% pow
at 3600Kh.

Verified at the pool over several hours. At the time, was churning
INN at altminer.net . KlausT's 818 pools quite a bit lower than
repoted locally, so I know what you mean and was looking for it.

Benefit may vary by card, as it couldn't even get my trusty old
Titan X Pascal to work at all. My Titan is still running on KlausT.
But for my 1050ti's on 80% power, hell yeah hsr_neo definately.
