What's this cable called

What is the power cable from the modular PSU to the SSD/HD called? And what is the one call from the PSU with the daisy chained 4 pin connectors called? I may have to order some new ones for better cable management. Right now, they both have multiple connecters that make you daisy chain everything together, so all your components have to be fairly close to eachother.

depends on the power supply. Tell us the model of your PSU and we'll probably be able to help you find what you need.

In general, the large 4-pin connectors with two beveled corners on the top are often called molex connectors (because Molex was the company that designed it), The other kind of HDD/SDD connection is just a SATA power connector and has no special name that I know of.

Ryan pretty much nailed it, I usually call it a 4-pin Molex though, as I'm pretty sure that Molex technically made/invented the majority of the PC connections (at least in the early days). At any rate, if I was trying to order it from the manufacturer or search for it on Google/eBay, I'd hammer in something to effect of "<PSU maker's name> Modular 4pin Molex cable" and "<PSU maker's name> Modular SATA cable".

Just keep in mind that not all Modular cables are compatible with all Modular PSUs, even IF they use they same connector on the PSU side! While likely that cables for same-brand will be interchangeable, best bet is grabbing the cable for that exact model.

Yes, it varies per PSU. Many of them use the Molex ATX/PCI-E-style connectors (with varying amounts of pins depending on cable type), but even still, sometimes they are wired differently. Even if it fits, a cord from one brand can potentially fry a different PSU if improperly used.

More likely to fry whatever it is you are trying to power than to fry the PSU.

Your IDE HDD power connectors are the 4 pin molex connectors. The floopy connector is the small molex pin connector. These connectors are slowly being phased out as the SATA power connectors take over.

The small floppy connector is actually a Berg connector (again, after the company that designed it)... but their name never stuck to it like Molex did for the larger 4pin.

Not many people know the berg connector anymore. They just know it as the connector they never use and zip tie out of the way.

Love that comment, so it should be renamed the ZTC.
PS: Whats a floppy drive?

No, floppy drives get power from a cable called USB! :p

Those connectors do occasionally get used on in-bay media readers and fan controllers.

I think you meant to say PATA HDD.

The connecters are called Molex. That is your old 4 pin used on old IDE HDD, and currently by fans which use a 3 to 4 pin adapter.

That doesn't make it right.

Considering PATA didn't exist as a term before the introduction of SATA, when talking about a hard drive interface, (E)IDE and SCSI were the terms that were used for the two most common interface standards. So it's not wrong to use IDE, just archaic.
