Whats the difference between Computer Science - Option in Computer Engineering and...

Engineering - Computer Engineering option? The school I want to transfer to offers this. The CS option has less classes and the Engineering option has double the classes. Both are Bachelors of Science degrees.

I want to work with computer hardware and maybe some software on the side. I won't be able to talk to my counselor in the next few days. Maybe you guys can give me your inputs?

At my college, Electronics & Computer Engineering was more about designing hardware (and writing software), Computer Science was about writing software.

Having said that, my brother did the first of these and now is a software engineer!

Comp Sci is pretty much hardcore programming with a ton of math involved.

Comp Sci and Comp Engineering are two good areas. You'll also want to look at electrical and electronic engineering, and see if there are any interesting areas that may not be covered well enough or at all in the Comp Engineering area.

Edit: A counselor is only going to know so much about the entire breadth of degrees offered at your school, so be sure to end your counselor meeting with him/her arranging an appointment for you to meet the head of the relevant colleges. That way you can go further on the deep-dive conversations about the various programs and learning what direction interests you.

You want Computer Engineering. Computer Science is typically mostly software with brief descriptions of how the hardware works.
