Needing to have 2 nVidia cards in SLI to get triple monitor, or having to have a monitor that has a DisplayPort to work properly for Eyefinity.
 
well if you want performance id have two cards but if you dont care its a lot cheaper to go with a spliter
 
Probably still not having a single card thats capable of running triple monitors of decent size at reasonable frame rates on games with decent graphics. You still need sli/crossfire even if the cards can display more monitors. Or not having a card with 3x DVI. It would would still be the most adaptable. I know the ports are huge, but you could have a breakout adapter or something. DVI is still the most useful display type, being able to become VGA and HDMI as well as digital/analog DVI.
