...I put a 9600xt card in a 1.8 ghz P4, 512 SDRAM machine with a x4 AGP motherboard on FAR CRY, I get about 26 at the moment with my old geforce 2MX, but i know that pretty much all the new features of dx 8/9 are used in FAR CRY and as my card doesnt support them they are turned off which is why the fps is so high for such an old card. any ideas?!?!

My sig I can max everything out including custom ULTRA high water and still get 30 fps or above in just about all areas. This at 1024x768x32 with no antialiasing. Everything else maxed including audio.

That doesnt help him at all..

I would do look in the games forum and check there. There is a lot of Farcry posts with settings and alleged frames. Maybe the Farcry forums too.

No what would help him  Me estimating his performance on his totally different system?

Hes probably asking people who have 9600XT's, and close to the same CPU speed. Which is why I said your post didnt help him at all. Hes got a 1.8gig P4, 512 ram. You've got a 2500+ overclocked, 1gig of ram, and a 9800 Pro. I just dont get why you thought it was helpful

thanks for the responce, but your system is far ahead of mine and so thats not much help! but if you get 30 with that system then mine looks like it wont stand a chance

It´s a pinpoint on how to play Far Cry on maximum settings ;)

No, it was a way for you to brag about how superior your system is compared to his.

I would take that back if I where you  Totally uncalled for

Why should he take it back, he didnt break any rules. I happen to agree with him.

Hes asking how a P4 1.8gig, 512sdram ram, and a 9600XT would run Farcry. You chime in with how wonderful it plays for you on your 2300Mhz AMD, 9800 Pro, and 1gig of DDR ram. There is no comparison between the two systems. It was not helpful to him at all. You obvioulsy didnt have any input that could help him, and your post was useless for him. Sorry to be blunt, but thats how I see it.

After 10 replies of useless posts, I will attempt to answer your question. I would say that you would get 80-100 fps with the settings that you have now. If they are that high then you should raise the texture quality, decals, etc...

If you actually read the thread, we directed him to Farcrys official forums, and the game foums here. Were there are multiple posts about configs and average frames.

The very fact that you think he will get 80-100 FPS with a 1.8gig P4, 512sdram and a 9600XT is ignorance x1000.

100 fps!?! I would like to up the graphic textures to medium or high, would i get a solid 30 fps with a 9600 xt at medium or high?

I'll see if I can help. Also running P4 1.8 with 512.. had a 9600XT for about 2 weeks, then got 9800 PRO :). Didn't really make much of a diff because the 1.8 is slowing it down. I don't play farcry, but I do play Raven Sheild, and with everything on at 1280x1024x32 I was getting around 45fps average. On FS2004, I was getting around 18-25 on a crowded airport with all detail turned on. On UT2004 Demo (full wasn't out when I had this card), with everything on, and 2xaa and 8xaf, I was averagin around 35-70 fps. On NFSU, I could run most everything turned up full, at 1280x1024 and it was pretty smooth.. Not sure on the FPS, cause I don't know how to turn it on in that game. Most of this was all done on some mild overclocking.. but in hindsite.. it probably didn't make a difference that I overclocked.. again my P4 was the bottleneck. Hope this helps a bit.. I know you were looking for Farcry stats. Oh, and also, I upgraded to the 9600Xt from a GF2 MX400 w/ 64 megs... uh, you could say it was quite an improvement.

Hope this helps! Good luck.

I'm wondering who it is too. Hmm. Grow up.

I haven't played the game but there is a lot of activity going on about it in our game forums, and other game forums. So I think that was the best advice.

From what I hear and see, the visual quality is good, but it doesn't warrant the poor framerates everyone has been posting. Oqvist gets excited about his, but then I find out its 1024x768... to me that's not very exciting.

You're lucky they dont enforce rules around here very much.

There was nothing in my post that was wrong anyways. Dont be bitter cause we were right about your first post being useless. :D

In fact it was YOU and the other guy that started the flaming. It was all wrong.

First of all I don´t own a high end computer. Look at my sig and you would understand that. My post was never about showing off it was to give him some idea of what performance he could expect.

What do you mean you where right about my first post being useless? That was the most ridiculous I have ever read? Is this some kind of competition of being political correct?

OK, noone besides directing him to the game forums (wich o think it is right), helped him.
Let me try, i have a modded 9500-9700, since in the 9500 mode very overclocked, my card is kinda equivalent to a 9600XT, i'll post what i got for you...
my pc is a P4 2.13 (1.6A OCed)
512 DDR 400
9500 @ 400/300
or 9700 @ 400/300
I use in 9500 mode 1024X768 NO FSAA and 4X aniso
it normally plays above 30FPS mark
in 9700 mode.
1024X768 FSAA 2X and 8X aniso, it normally plays above 30FPS mark.
NORMALLY means, only two times i saw it went to near 20 fps mark, it hovers in 30 to 40 FPS all the time, but doesn't pass 40 ;)
I think this helped. Since i have a little better system u would do fine with the 9600XT in 1024X768 0FSAA and 2XAniso i think.

Please explain to me how you helped him. He asked how his P4 1.8gig, 512sdram, with a 9600XT would run Farcry.

You chime in saying your 2500+ overclocked to 2300Mhz, 1gig ddr and 9800 Pro runs Farcry great with max settings. How is that helping him to see what frames he can expect? Its not.

I dont see how that can help him at all. Your CPU is at least 2x faster than his, your ram 2x the amount, and much faster. And your 9800 Pro is much faster than a 9600XT. Your post didnt help him at all, and was useless to him.

Thats not flaming, thats the facts. I have no idea how you think your post was helpful to him. Im done here though, not going to argue in his thread. You can either see that you were wrong, or not.

stop flailing your penis around, we see its huge, however we dont care. this thread isnt about YOU.

dazza: farcry can run ok on a wide variety of computers, but it can also choke even the fastest today. youll definitly notice a difference.

Now I count 3 idiots. No this thread is not about me but everyone tries to make it to be about me or rather my sig

Wow, me and fallguy actually agree on something for once. On a side note, my 9800XT ultimate edition and P4EE @ 3.8GHz (with phase cooling of course) runs this game fine! Hope that helps.

Ok, for some on topic talk, the 9600XT & 1.8GHz P4 won't be running farcry very well. My guess is somewhere around 30-40 fps. Your cpu is probably going to bottleneck you.

if you REALLY want I can put it on my 1.8 celery ;)

no more fighting in this thread please or it's going to be closed and pm's will be sent

There is only one person breaking the rules, flaming and calling names. But like I said, rules dont get enforced around here much.

To *sorta* help out. My daughters SFF has a 1800+, 512ddr, and a 5900NU. The 5900NU and 9600XT are close in speeds, and it plays Farcry at a decent frame rate, as long as the settings are not taken above medium and 1024x768, sound on medium, no AA/AF. Probably an average of 30-40 FPS. Higher in open maps with not much action, lower indoors with lots of action.

I might be able to help.

I've got an Athlon XP 1900+, 512 DDR PC2100, and a GeForce4Ti4400. Now our procs are about the same, while I've got better ram, and you've got the better card(assuming you go ahead and get a 9600XT). So I figure we have more or less similar systems. Now I run FarCry at 1024x768 with all settings on medium except for environment and water which are on high (the former is key for the sake of immersion) and I get anywhere from 25-70 fps depending on the situation. The thing about FarCry is that each map has a different draw distance and so no one's fps on any system will be consistent from one level to the next (the volcano level will make any PC cry). That said, my fps averaged somewhere between 30 and 45 fps and I think you can expect the same with a 9600XT.
