Read topic, I quit WoW due to my not being able to quit at certain times and have it kill my college work, anyone know anything that's going to replace it

if not, the addiction is getting back to me...

excercise worked for me coming off of a year and a half of 100hour eq weeks.

An apocalypse.

:p

Not that I condone or play WoW. Once you realize it's the same slayfest as every other MMO, you're glad to stop playing it. I didn't last past a free trial. I like RPGs with depth, not ones that rely on guilds and entail nothing but hunting and doing quests. Hard to play a role without the social aspect.

seems so, I loved having WoW because it was an easy way to kill time

now I just spend my time playing crappy korean online games which are fun for a bit, but then die

or browsing forums... like [H]

Nothing will truly replace it. wow fills that certain void in your life, and although you may eventually be able to step away you will fondly remember your trips to scholomance and long to return to the magical realm of azeroth. maybe warhammer or conan can replace it, but lets face it wow is probably the best mmo out there. I pray that world of starcraft never arrives.

Hes right nothing can replace the void, its way too epic of a game, but I wouldnt recommend any game like WoW, its not healthy, everything outside of wow is half done to compensate for the game, its like smoking, you fit your life around it.

yea I was an EverCrack addict too, but damn 100 hours a week? did you do anything besides eat and play EQ? possibly sleep? :p

I thought the same thing about EQ after I quit, but WoW sure did replace it pretty effectively. thank god I quit both of them though.

How many hours a day were you guys playing?

I've been playing wow for almost a year now and i never get in more than 3-4 hours a day after work. Sometimes more if theres nothing on TV.

I don't think i could stand to play it on a beautiful Saturday indoors.

I guess i'm glad i'm a casual player and it doesn't rule my life.

Heres looking forward to a very very long Casual wow career.

the next thing after WoW is real life, so you should quit WoW and start a real life account.

I was in college at the time, and ended up taking a quarter off to just play. 16 hours a day times 7 days a week equals 112 hours a week. So considering I pulled numerous 20+ hour marathons, I'm sure I topped 130 hours in a week at some point. In the time where I was still enrolled in class, I went to maybe 25% of the classes and studied during "meditate" time.

Needless to say, I stayed clear of wow.

That's the thing. Casual is a very, uh, loose term. To me, someone playing 3-4, possibly more a day, is a LOT. Someone playing 100+ hours a week is just stupid. Sorry, it is. :(

It sure is, I'll be the first to admit that. I game maybe 2 hours a day now.

Monthly charge is 14.95 a month, get discounts for multiple months purchase. Been playing since beta, god how i hate and love this game.

He meant the "real life" account. I hear it's much pricier than WoW, you have to buy all kinds of meals and drinks and things like more gas, etc.

(sticks with WoW :p  )

Yeah I found out that if I don't sit and eat for atleast 20 seconds for atleast 3 times everytime I log in that my health bar goes down considerably. Is this a known nerf?

Oh and...

Son....SON.... Vanish...is still.......Broken!!! *gah (dies)*:D

Go buy a dirtbike or learn to play hockey or something, otherwise you'll be dead at 40.

GLHF :p

yeah, I dunno, I want to fill the void, but small games of Gunbound and Gunz just arn't cutting it, there isn't enough addiction in it, but then if it's too addicting, then i'll end up not doing well in college...

I was really thinking about going back if the raids take less time, 4-6 hrs in MC/BWL/Naxx was brutal

warhammer is the only thing i think that will have a shot at pulling lots of people away from wow.

WoW 2.

lol :p.
But really, Blizzard is already planning a new MMO, and in an interview they said it wouldn;t be like the current WoW. May be a good thing, but most people still love WoW, so they are doing something right. You could probably find the article, it was posted on Digg a couple weeks ago.

STEP 1: Delete all your toons
STEP 2: Buy an XBOX 360
STEP 3: Buy. Gears of War, RainbowSix Vegas, Crackdown, etc.

It's that easy. I played 6-7 hours a day on weekdays and 12+ on weekends. I tried everything else and that worked for me so.

The Xbox 360 allows you to quit whenever, the problem with WoW is waiting for people to get to the instance, breaks, afks, etc. You dont have to wait for that on live. Plus you can play with college buddies at the same time.

How many hours a day were you guys playing?

I played 7 hours straight yesterday, my record is 9. Thats an exception though, I usually play 2 or 3 hours a day.

I made 280g yesterday and went from level 66.3 to 67.2 :D

When I was just about to finish up college and look for a job, I kicked off WoW. Guild Wars helped fill the void. Good amount of content to do, play sessions can be short, and no monthly fee to make you feel obligated to play

That's intense dude. Ever since I started college I've actually been gaming alot less than I did when I was at home.

That's insane. A friend of mine in high school had an older brother who dropped out of college to beat Super Mario Bros. for SNES and maybe some other Mario games. He and his roommate just loved playing Mario. :D

I guess I was lucky as well.
I am one of those types that when a game co starts to F with me I am all over it
and can't let it rest.
2 yrs ago when EQ2 came out friends talked me into play it...first online pay game for me.
Well in 3 months they had nerfed my 2 chrs to hell....most people just quit playing those classes...Then they started to hammer all the other stuff so I got mad and quit.

Guild wars.....daily nerfs and drops went to hell so I quit that

WOW...started in Nov...tried all the chrs and got 2 into 50's...then the nerfs and fuck ups of the company...wasn't long till I told them to shove it.

WON'T start another one like these they suck.

These games are for sheep that will let a co crap all over them and say way to go BUZZARD and thanks for helping me to start a new chr.....YOU ARE GOD

no they know a stupid sheep idiot and will do anything to keep you paying...they are NOT GOD

To answer your question....Friends, Family and Fun....sitting and playing one of these quickly becomes work

DONT start playing one of these unless you are a looser and have no life....unless you want less of one

I was unemployed for 6+ months during which (at my peak) I was averaging at least 10 hours a day. It really made the time fly by.

I was a Star Wars Galaxies beta tester and I was probably playing at least eight hours a day. Some nights I pulled nearly an all-nighter. Actually I first started playing it the day I got my MX700 Duo. I played until the mouse's batteries died, which was perfect because apparently you're supposed to deplete it completely a few times before normal use.

That was back when SWG was good. Before they neutered it.

I've been into MUDs since '98. Actually just one MUD, but I haven't played for a few months. Don't know if I'll ever play it again. I like MUDs for their depth and reliance on imagination instead of spoon-feeding. Endless RP possibilities. More socializing, more to do.

Wait till you get your mount.. She's expensive.

Wow, you must be a real winner since you have told all these companies to shove it and must have a real life..........
