What was your first accelerated graphics card?

Geforce 2 GTS 32MB
Radeon 9700 Pro
Radeon 9800 XT
Geforce 6800GT
Radeon x800 XTPE (Returned the Geforce due to the terrible shimmering in games like BF1942)
Geforce 7900GT
Geforce 8800GT
Radeon HD4850
Radeon HD5850
Geforce GTX 570 SLi

Memorable cards from the bunch:

Radeon 9700 Pro (lol massive upgrade from the Geforce 2)
Radeon x800XTPE. Good gaming times were had on this card. Half Life 2, UT2004, Oblivion, Far Cry
Geforce GTX 570 SLi. Having a blast with these cards. I held off for a long time going dual cards, the reports of microstuttering kept me at bay. Not seeing that at all with these. I love being able to just crank the settings to 11 and pile on the AA and enjoy gaming bliss.

ATI 3D Rage Pro 4MB (2002-2005 IIRC),if that counts.

Then S3 Savage 32MB (2006) -> no PC for 2 years -> Palit HD2600XT Sonic (2008) -> Sapphire HD4670 OC (2009) -> MSI HD4870 Cyclone (Nov 2010) -> MSI HD5770 (late Aug 2011) -> Asus HD6950 DCII unlocked to HD6970 (late Sep 2011).
Oh and a Radeon 9700 Pro on the Mac Powerbook G4.

Being a NVIDIA fan and use only ATI products, how irony.

I first purchased a Diamond Stealth with 64MB. Quickly I realized the memory didn't matter and I got into a Voodoo 2.

Evga FX 5200 was my first GPU, loved playing COD 1 and CS 1.6 on there and then a little HL2. Then my second was an x800xl straight from ATIs B stock and thought I was the shit. Haha. Then a x1900gt after that from Newegg open box I think. Glorious days!

Voodoo Rush.. had issues so I took it back and got a Voodoo Banshee.

Then V3-2000, 3500
Then V5-5500 - still have in my retro gaming rig that never gets used.
ATI 9600XT
Nividia Geforce 7900GS - had a 50% overclock on this thing . lasted a year.
ATI 3870
ATI 4850 - added a GTS250 for PhysX and side monitors
Nvidia GTX460 with GTS250 for PhysX and side monitors

I had a Geforce 3 Ti-200 in there somewhere early... Maybe between the 5500 and the 9600XT?

Our family's old P166 computer had a RIVA TNT that my brother purchased which finally allowed me to run Unreal better than choppy, and Half Life when that came out. He took it away when he built his own, so I got a Voodoo3, my own first card. Loved it, still have it.

Voodoo 1
Voodoo Banshee
Voodoo 3000
Voodoo 5500
Geforce 2
Ti4600
5900 Ultra
6600 GT (for about 2 days - blech)
1950 Pro
4850 (Fanless)
4870X2 (Killed by Arctic Cooling HSF)
GTX480
GTX480 SLI
GTX480 SLI (Arctic Cooling HSF mods, Overclocked)

3dfx Voodoo 1 - a Diamond Monster 3D

After that I had a Guillemot Maxi Gamer Xentor32 - basically an overblown way of saying a Riva TNT2 :)

Next card after that wasn't until the 7900GT

Wow... I got alot of reply QUICK! My most awesome thread to date. YAY ME!

I still have my voodoo cards. I'm never going to get rid of them. They'll be a collector's time in 50 years!

I'm still hoping my engineering sample 4870X2 becomes valuable one day

Rendition Vérité V2200

Card was a Hercules Thriller 3D 4MB PCI.

Bought it to play GL Quake and 2. Had to upgrade when it was completely overwhelmed by Half-Life.

Guillemot.... I almost forgot about them. What ever happened to them? I remember their ads plastered all over everything.

I actually couldn't remember who made the geforce 2 I had. But it was a hercules by Guillemot.

I had a Guillemot sound card not so long ago (Hercules) - well I say not so long, probably 7 or 8 years now actually.

oh god, I remember those Guillemot cards. Didn't the GF2 Ultra cost an absolute boatload?

And my first was a voodoo 2, and later a second of them. Oh, such good memories.

Yeah.. it was expensive. I think my Geforce 2 GTS was like $400, the Ultra was maybe $550.

Oh and I was rocking it in a Pentium III 800Mhz. I can't remember which motherboard I was using at the time. It was either a QDI or Asus. That was around the time I switched to Asus, I use to use QDI motherboards a lot until then.

btw- still have both of them, in the box, with the sli connector haha

My first accelerated video card was an S3 Virge with a Monster 3D, I can not remember the box I put those into though, I think it was a Cyrix 686 back in the late 90's.

2K? Seriously. I remember the 12mb cards being like $250-300 when they launched. I know I paid way less than 2k for my 12MB STB cards. I also know I dreamed of having Quantum3D Obsidian II X-24. It was a two SLI 12MB cards on a single card. It was only $600 or so.

Obligatory "remember-your-first video card" thread... ok, I'll bite.

3D Rage Pro
Voodoo 5500 (good card, better packaging... I wished they'd bring that Voodoo guy back)
Geforce 2 256
Trident 3D 16MB (on my HP laptop)
Geforce 4600ti (my first GPU casualty from a botched install)
Geforce 4400ti (can be overclocked as fast as a 4600ti at half the price. Win!)
Geforce 5900 XT (not nearly as bad as people remember... it was a big step above my 4400ti)
Geforce 6800 GTO (unlocked)
2x Geforce 7800 GT SLI
2x Geforce 7800 GTO SLI
ATI 1400x mobility
2x Geforce 8800 GTX SLI
2x ATI 4870 512mb x-fire
9800m GT
2x ATI 4870 1024mb x-fire
2x ATI 5870 1024mb x-fire
2x ATI 5870m
2x ATI 5870x5970 tri-fire
3x GTX 480 SLI
2x ATI 6950 (unlocked)
2x GTX 485m
2x ATI 6990m

On a side note, this is the longest dry-spell I can remember between new high-end GPUs that I can remember.

a 9200 (old ati one) that came in my super kick ass gaming pc my dad got me form his buddy that built them......it had a p4 2.4ghz and a 9200 in it and i think a 512ram the dam pc cost like $1500 and at the time i thought the thing was so kick ass, then a few years later i built a new rig and pout a 6800 and unlocked some thing on it.

my first was a 12MB 3dfx voodoo2 pci. cost me a whopping $250.

later upgraded to a TNT2 Ultra then went back to voodoo3 3000.

Voodoo 1 here. Diamond Monster 3D
monster3d.gif

On a 233 MMX overclocked to 292 (yes that's MHz). I was quite pleased with the 83 Mhz bus...smokin fast!

Damn I'm gettin' old!

Same card for me with a similar system. Monster Truck Madness never looked so good :D

Intergraph Intense3D Voodoo (Voodoo Rush). That and my Pentium 90 were my first foray into overclocking.

3d Blaster PCI (Vérité V1000)

VQuake ftw...

However, ended up buying a Canopus Voodoo 1 since QuakeWorld didn't support Verite when it was released.

GeForce 4 Ti 4200. I bought a PNY version from Best Buy. It was the first time I'd ever opened a PC too. I remember spending hours after school that day triyng to get the card to fit, but had to return it. The problem was a bent bracket, haha :p

I bought it to play UT2K3 and BF1942! :D Before then I was playing UT99 and CS on the GeForce 2 that came with my PC.

man seeing some of these cards is like wow i feel so young...

i dont even remember the name of my first card i got it for christmas like 7 years ago or so. i kno it was a 128 mb ati in a pci slot.

when i started building i got a BFG tech Geforce 7600 GS
then upgraded to 2x 7950 GT's in SLI ( i miss those cards)
then later had 9800GX2's in SLI liquid cooled
then i went to a GTX 295
2x 9800 GT's in SLI
