I am getting ready to put a new computer together
AMD Athlon 64 3000, or a AMD Athlon 64 3200
what is a good Motherboard to use
I am not to impress with the Epox mb :(
I guess what I am asking is for a good MB updateable Bois
with a Dual Channel Supported ( a must )
Serial ATA150 Hard Drive ( ATA again is a must have :D )
at least 3 or more PCI Slots
a AGP is a must ( i will be using my card that I am currently using ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon 256MB 256-bit Video card )

Uh...if your getting s754 you might be okay, but I don't know anything for sure. The AGP is killing you. I think you should try to sell it and get a PCI-E card, if you stay with AGP you are limmiting your options to absolute poo-poo.

OK if I do get a PCI Video card then other than Epox
what is a good MB to look at?
the AGP is that bad vs. PCI ??

What about the ASRock Dual SATA2 board? It runs both AGP and PCIe and I think fits the rest of what you want. Comes in at $70 too.

I'm in the same boat. I currently have a 2.2ghz barton and about 5 IDE hard drives. I just bought an AGP x850 XT PE on the F/S forum and I want to upgrade my mobo/cpu/DDR accordingly. I bought the card for 250.00, which is much less than the 400.00 that it would cost retail, nevermind the costs of going PCI express.

Right now, the best bet is the Socket 939 Epox EP-9NDA3+

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 512K 90nm Rev. E Venice (939) (Retail Box-w-Fan)

and whatever TCCD/BH5 chips are hot right now that will do 2-2-2-6 at 1t @ 250-300Mhz

The main problem I see with the Epox board is the low Vcore (+.2V) and low Vdimm (2.8V?)... Specifically the low ddr voltage. Some of the higher speed stuff is looking for nearly 4.0V to do rated speeds. I've been through the whole volt mod thing on abit/epox boards and I'm really not interested in doing it again.

Does anyone have any useful suggestions/options for those of us Stuck on AGP?

I apologize to the thread starter if this appears to be threadjacking, but it seems like we're both in the same boat and I didn't see the point in starting a new discussion.

Maybe get the Epox and get a DDR Booster because I don't think there are many options available now for AGP.

[Thread Crap] That's what you get for being behind the times [/Thread Crap] :p
