What to do with all this crap?

I have the following, sitting in my closet:

ASUS A8R32-MVP Motherboard (RD580 chipset)
DFI Lanparty NF4 Ultra D
AMD Opteron 165
AMD Opteron 170
ATi X1900XT CrossFire Edition
Powercolor X1900XT

Also, since I'm getting two Q6600s here soon (pre-ordered some G0 stepping models, should be in the first of August) I'll also have a Core 2 E6700 sitting around. I'll also probably pick up DFI's 680i motherboard, so add these to the list:

intel Core 2 Duo E6700
ASUS P5N32-E SLI

The obvious thing to do with the AMD stuff is to build two GPU folding boxes, and use the spare core in each for a instance of Folding@home or World Community Grid.

What to do with the intel stuff, I'm not totally sure. I think it would be best to just sell the ASUS 680i board, buy a P35 mobo, toss in the other Q6600, and use that for my Linux box. That'll leave me with an E6700. File server processor that also runs F@H perhaps? I've already got a Supermicro 1U with four hotswap bays. I could switch out the SCA backplane for an SATA one, add in a Supermicro LGA775 1U motherboard, a RAID HBA from Adaptec or Areca, four 750GB Seagate drives (RAID 5) and be done with that.

I've got plenty of parts, too few displays. I'm already lining up a Gefen 4x2 DVI KVM switch.

Yea, I'd try to sell it while its still worth something and put the cash towards something a little more current.

You could just send it all to me and I'll make good use of it. :D

Use it for an HTPC. Or you could use it as your DVD / movie server. Or use it to store all of your downloaded WAREZ. There is always pr0n! ;) :D

I'm just going to build GPU boxes. Even though the SMP client nets more points, you've got to wonder if the science that's actually being done is better. I'm guessing the GPU clients are doing more work. Not to mention that electricity is cheap where I live.

I'll already have two quad core boxes, not to mention an E6700 and an Athlon 4800+ also running SMP. I need more variety in case they ever decide to drop the SMP points rewards down to a semi-realistic level.

There's very little performance penalty to running two single-CPU clients on a dual-core processor, although the "real" dual core CPUs do better than the Pentium D's. Worse case scenario gives you a "normal" points production for each core you have.

Or you could just give it to me :p
