Additionally why FFXI sucks:

- Lots of Japanese players are complete assholes towards Americans.
- Playing on Japanese servers means they (and their bots) get first dibs on mobs.
- Japanese players don't get banned for exploiting, Americans do.
- The "I want to be Japanese" crowd is just as annoying in-game as it is in real life.
- Doing a quest is stupid as hell and often involves little more than sneaking around and avoiding combat at all costs. You will never go in guns blazing.
- Something many levels below you at higher levels can completely kick your ass if you try to solo it.
- The people who play it are usually assholes and if you ever disagree with them they're going to blow every blood vessel in their face and become fire engine red as they start telling you what a newbie you are.
- You fight one thing at a time... forever. It gets really, really boring.
- Amount of XP per kill does not increase with level.
- Crucial spells you need often cost rediculous amounts of money.
- Melee classes miss A TON.
- No real PvP, just an incredibly stupid implementation of it.
- You have to farm A LOT to be able to afford anything, as if it was a real job.
- A lot of the classes are pretty damn worthless or boring.
- Very frustrating quests with low drop rates must be completed to advance in levels.
- The auction house.
- Nobody will randomly help you with any difficult quests out of fear of losing XP.
- Enemies chase you forever... all the way across zones.
- You set up camps to get XP, which sometimes became very crowded and competition for mobs ensued. Spawn rates did not change based upon the number of people in the area. Also, you see the same exact thing for hours on end.
- The game mostly plays itself. It's the only MMORPG I know of that you can play while playing another game at the same time.
- You fight the same exact monsters, mostly with the same exact artwork, over and over all the way to the end.
- Exploring is basically impossible because you can only ride a chocobo for so long and once you get off things will start to aggro you (and will kill you).
- Many classes lacked skills or had very few so you'd basically just sit there and whack away.
- You spent a lot of time waiting (for things other than groups as that's been mentioned) or walking. A LOT.
- Everything had to be earned. While it sounds nice at first, it becomes very old when even the littlest of things require hours to accomplish.
- Character classes were pretty straight forward and lacked imagination.
- You had to be in the same zone to invite someone.
- Poor world maps, which had to be purchased because exploring is largely impossible.
- Alt tabbing crashed the game (but I'm sure a hack has been released by now to fix this).

I'm sure there's more, but I'm forgetting it.

Has everyone forgotten about City of Heroes!?!?!?

IMHO that is the best MMORPG

imo CoH gets boring fast. Unlike other games with "level grinding" CoH has no real payoff, its just a continuos grind.

Eve Online...thats what i've been stuck playing for the past 3 months. www.eve-online.com
if you want a 15 day trial send me a pm with your email address and i'll send it to you.

I didn't see an EQ1 option in the vote! :( My wife does play EQ2 a bit but still likes EQ1 alot more and we weren't to impressed with WoW.

You said you were level 6....You solo until 10 then you go to the dunes to party...not 6

He does have some valid points, but what about the Euros who just now got access to the game?
