ok...i hear this term getting thrown around alot in the world of overclocking and i hear it is better and all but what the hell is it?

it's RAM chip made by winbond.........supposedly legendary, but it's long discontinued............

I run .. BH-5 Muskin lvl2 .. pc3500 and it runs at .. 2-2-2-5 all day long not matter what i push at it at stock voltage .. awsome stuff

is there any way to get RAM with BH5?

FS/FT area of the forums. its gettin pretty rare, rare= pricey

if you are looking for ram that does 2-2-2-5 and overclocks like mad, look for sticks based on the samsung TCCD chips. theyre going up to and over 300mhz on a64 and p4 setups.

hrm..got a link for that stuff? I've never seen or heard of bh5 doing 300 MHz at 2-2-2-5..that would be rediculous.

it cant do it at 2-2-2-5, lol. it does up to 215 to 220 at 2-2-2-5, i have the pqi myself and it is running at 2-2-2-5@215 in my aXP system now. its nice stuff, it comes with a lifetime warrently and hte gig set can be had at newegg for 250

I took that as your were saying that some bh5 memory can do 300 MHz @ 2-2-2-5 timings.... the bh-5 i'm using right now is doing 250 MHz @ 2-2-2-5 timings.

BH5 chips take voltage EXTREMELY well. If you pump enough into them, they have MASSIVE overclocks at low timings.

BH-5 here @ 230 fsb 2.8V at 2-2-2-5, 1:1 with more volts I'm sure I could do better !
Sadly BH-5 is long gone since winbond decided to get out of the memory mfg business. other than ebay or sale on the forum you'll not find any BH-5 for sale....for a nice price ! Anyone who has some hordes it for good reason.

bh-6 is good, and will perform much like bh-5, but will require more volts to do the same as bh-5, still, al in all bh-6 is excellent memory if you can find it

tccd is decent ram but it wont hold the 222 timings to 250fsb like bh5/bh-6 will

I'm thinking of selling mine, as I've tried a thousand things and my system has given up on any overclock at all.

I've got some Mushkin Black Level II PC-3500, that's running at stock speeds. :(

Hrm, i too have the Mushkin PC-3500 lvl 2 bh5. It runs like a champ for me, remember though you have to get the voltage up for it to run like this. I keep about 3.4 - 3.5v to mine constantly (with some air flow over it). The pic below is only at 227 MHz [2-2-2-5] + turbo mode, and i can run it all day at 250Mhz with a 1:1 divider.....but my CPU needs to clock higher for it to run 250 @ 5:4 [2-2-2-5], i really need a 3.0 that can run at 250fsb.....It also helps to have a fast CPU in there too of course. I can prob break the 7000 Mb/s barrier once i get a CPU that can RUN 1:1 with this RAM at over 3.5Ghz. It's all relative when you start doing the bh5 dance, especially when going above and way beyond whats its rated for.

and also....

i'm not sure what your question is.....but all memory manufacters "used" the same bh-5 chips. You see a company called "windbond" made the chips and sold them to each company.....ocz, corsair, adata, mushkin, kingston and etc.....Now the RAM boards themselves can vary on how they implant the chips into the circuit boards.....arrangement of capaciters and circuitry makes the difference of the power sent to the winbond bh5 chips themselves. Some companies chips just do better. I've generally seen Mushkin and Kingston HyperX companies to be the best at overclocking. But its all about the same.

bh5 + about 3.3 - 3.8v = anywhere from 240-270 MHz @ 2-2-2-5

Below is a nice link from xtremesystems (probally the best place to read/learn about bh5). Just don't foget the good of [H]ard forums. This link is the best i've found on the net about bh5, including a stepping database; including week by week chips, manufacters and speed. And a nice little history about bh5

Sorry for the confusion. My post was not clear. I was just wondering how to find what kind of chips each company uses. For example, I could be browsing newegg, see memory I was interested in, and lookup what kind of chips were used and who make them.

you would have to get the Manufactor's part # from the online site...newegg for example...take that part # and go to the company's website to find out what type of components are being used in their RAM boards or call the company themselves. But bh5 is not made anymore, and you will not find any "new" bh5 products. Best bet is a for sale/trade forums, ebay and etc....

Was the original corsair PC3500 BH5? I have a friend with the Corsair 3500 and its like a year old so im assuming that its BH5.

Hard to say. It has a good chance of being bh5 or maybe even bh6 or ch6 (just not as good as bh5). You need to remove the heatspreaders to find out.....tell him not to be chicken and take them off to see.

well the computer is sitting right here, I was thinking i could buy them off him. I kight take them out ad test their limits

My corsair 3200LLPT has BH5 (2x512-matched pair running at 2225). I bought them awhile ago for my AXP. Cant wait to try them on the new neo2 3500+ system I just bought!

Sure it can. Only a matter of voltage. Well, throw in cooling - you don't want to cause a meltdown in your case :)

I have some BH5 but I've never pushed it. My motherboard sucks for ocing. Quick question. How long will RAM that's getting over 3 volts last? Even with a fan blowing on it you have to figure it's getting extremely hot.

depends on teh ram, and BH-5 has been know to take voltage like that very well, with no ill effects.

With BH-5/6 you're safe at below 3.5 with no cooling at all... at about 3.6, you'll need active cooling, though.
