What is a good software for CPU OC?

I have a locked bios on an HP and would like to juice up the e6300 a bit to keep it up to speed. I have searched google for a good answer but most of the programs have not been updated since like 2007. I just want to be sure that the PLL chip is supported. Is there any current software that would work best? If I was buying a new mobo I could probably use the mobo brand OC software, but I am not sure who makes the board and if their OC utility would even work with an older board. Board is not with me and is a 2007, so the chip may be supported by the older programs. Checked out SetFSB and Clockgen. Both seem like they would work if I can get the correct PLL. In both of those programs though, I did not see anything for voltage control though.

What do you guys use? Looking for more options.
 
very very few of us use software. You have found about the only things out there. I know of nothing that will allow you to increase voltages.

You can always manunipulate the Vid and the buss frequency with the old method of masking/connecting contact pads on the cpu chip itself. Trouble is it would only work if the motherboard supported the higher buss speed (you could look up what cpus HP offered with that board and see if a higher FSB cpu was offered. Look up "BSEL mod".

Hopefully someone else will know of something I do not.

I thought most of the extreme overclockers used software to OC since when using extreme cold it sometimes was not possible to start the computer with a huge OC under subzero temps. I have read about the BSEL mods as well, but its a bit scarier to me. I can't believe there is no way to increase voltage if you can increase clock. Seems odd you can mess with some stuff on the mainboard from inside windows, but not other things. Yet from bios I can pretty much do what I want. Didnt know there was a VID mod like the BSEL mod either.

yes they do but thats not recommended for long term overclocking.. and really is only useful for the type of overclocking they do.. for the avg person running an every day overclock it doesnt help that much except to see what it will overclock to and thats it.. the reason they dont want to messing with voltage is that the PWM's/mosfets cant handle the voltage increase.. thus they protect the board and protect themselves from having to RMA systems that some customer thought would of been cool to increase the cpu voltage to 1.7v or some shit..
