Going to build a new Computer in 2 weeks. What CPU so far is better in BF4? FX 8350, 4770k or 4670k?

Im going to wait for the release of the new AMD cards for my GPU but I would guess I would at lest use a GTX 770. Thx guys

I'd get the 4670k. I don't think you'll see a performance difference in games. But the money you save will let you get a noticeably better video card.

sorry but bad advice at this point if he has the money. many games are going to use more than 4 threads soon so if he wants to keep the cpu for a while then the 4770k makes much more sense. some games already do as there were times in Crysis 3 where my 2500k at 4.4 was hitting almost 100% usage. BF 4 multi will max out my cpu or a 4670k even oced.

here you can see that HT will certainly help in BF 4.

AMD putting up a refreshingly strong showing here. I expect once Mantle is added, there will probably a further sizable gain.

yes they look good here but overall its a poor choice for a new build if wanting top performance in ALL games. thinking about a 4770 build myself but I am in no hurry.

4770K.... check

Hopin the OC'd 670 FTWs will be enough. Was going to wait for the 8 series to refresh...

Who games at 1680X1050? Is there a 1080p or higher benchmark?
thats a cpu bench so why in the heck would they run it at 1920x1080 to make it more gpu limited? it shows you what you can expect from your cpu once you are not gpu limited. if you are looking to stay above 50 or 60 fps then you clearly see that having more than 4 cores is helpful in that.

Considering that an i7 2600k will give you 60 frames as well and that you can buy one of those for half the price of a 4770k it's not really clear what advantage a 4770k gives you to make up for the price difference.

since when is a 2600k half the price of a 4770k? just some special?

Well it's not quite half, but you can get a used 2600k for just under $200.

I think that the console game developers will want to eek out all of the speed they can get from the hardware as it's not going to change for the next decade. To get the most out of the XBone and PS4, they're going to have to multithread the software. Because they are using what is basically off the shelf computer parts, this will translate into easier multithreaded console ports like BF4.

In short games will scale better on more cores in the future. I see 6 core Intel and 8 core AMD as leading the charge in the future. Hopefully we'll see some 8 core Intel chips next year with a new memory standard next year also.

Correct, when running CPU benchmarks you want to run at the lowest rez.

Here's some CPU usage for me...

2600k @ 4.9ghz w/ Hyper Threading ON, gtx670@1337mhz with the below settings I get on average 85fps!

Having HT on makes the game smoother and possibly getting even more fps compared to when HT off, when HT was off I was closer to 100% CPU usage.

Let me know what you guys think....
