Yes, you read correctly. And I'm loving it. Even more so than when I first played it. And it actually feels very similar to Inquisition, more than I remembered.

So I don't get all the hate it received..

Agree that it was a good game. Normally hate for popular franchises is from people whose gonads turned into a sandy vagina.

I played Fallout 4 again this weekend. Watching Star Wars The Force Awakens has me feeling nostalgic. I might fire up Tie Fighter or Empire at War. I would love another SW MMORPG.

Been gradually punching through BLOPS 3 prestige and hit level 21 or something.
Punched through a few missions in Ass Creed Syndicate. Game is dope.
Having Lara blow through shit in Rise of Tomb Raider and hit about 58% done. Loving it.

So much fun!

The main criticisms of the game were for the linear corridors, bland and repeated environments, poor character development and poor story progression. The game itself plays fine, but I'm sure there was a lot of salt spilled for going in the direction of an ARPG rather than sticking to its CRPG roots.

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Maybe I'll actually finish the game this time.

Haven't finished the game either, I should start this week. Story's pretty good.

Been playing some Witcher 2 lately.

I'm pretty close to the end of Fallout 4, so I hope to win it over the holiday weekend.
Once it's done, I'll likely go back to Arkham Knight.

Finished Oblivion, never finished Shivering Isles. I started playing SI awhile back, but I felt no drive to ever finish it. The story of the main quest is pretty good. I wonder what happened at Bethesda? It seems like every game they have put out since have had pretty mediocre stories by comparison.

Can't get enough of Fallout 4 so Fallout 4 again. I am going to fire up X-Wing vs Tie Fighter once I pick up a steam controller today.

I thought Wolfenstein: The New order was gonna be trash, ended up liking it alot, beat it before Christmas, now I am gonna play Old Blood this weekend.

Pretty much in my top few games of the last few years these (more-so TNO, but TOB is good too.) The story is pretty good for a shooter, the characters are great, but they absolutely NAILED the shooting. It's just entirely satisfying. They took some pretty basic and raw shooting mechanics and polished them to perfection more or less. I held off for quite a while too, because I wasn't totally convinced I'd like it either, but I couldn't have been more wrong. If I'm not mistaken, Machine Games is working on another one. I think I read that somewhere...

Finishing up the "Alien Breed" Trilogy.

http://store.steampowered.com/sub/7678/

I would not be surprised if half the people in this thread own it have never played it and don't even realize they have it. Its been on sale since the beginning of steam sales always for a buck or two.

No idea what this genre is actually called, but its a top down twin stick shooter which has a plot pretty much in line with Dead Space. Ive never played a twin stick game in this genre before so the first game I beat on novice second veteran third I will most likely play on hard.

Its overall kind of a disappointing title. The story is fine and for the first two games at least you were invested in a particular characters fate. The shooting is lots of fun and the game looks surprisingly fine for 2015. I think thats the biggest pull of the Unreal 3 engine. It looks just solid enough to where it will look fine for at least another 10 years to anyone of the old school calibre. Im of the mind that theres going to be a finite limit where our eyes just cant see enough detail for things beyond 4k to matter.

The only problem with the game is theres almost no puzzles, its almost all "go here pull switch" and its just repetitive enough to where it gets tiresome, but Ive managed to stick with it. Like doom searching the environments for the secrets and moving the story along has kept me into it. If I were to give anyone advice in trying to knock this out of their backlog. Play on veteran and try to not play safe. Just run through the enemies and challenge yourself. If you just sit in the corner of every big encounter and use the flamethrower to defend your self it will get old quick. Skip secrets and scavenging for ammo. Just ram your way through the game. Its more exciting that way.

Heh, I've been playing Alien Breed games since the Amiga 500. "Intex systems!"

I only played the first of the three new ones, but do plan to play the other two at some point. They're very well done.

I finished the trilogy today. I will admit I'm mildly hungover but I'm a bit perturbed with it. Specifically the last chapter or Alien Breed 3: Descent. For a couple reasons.

Its all one story, by the final chapter in the trilogy you're essentially in a imploding sinking ship. To immerse you in this they have you wading in water quite a bit and its difficult to see enemies and wreckage blocking your way. When thats not an issue youre crawling over and under wreckage that will you will get stuck on constantly. Theres a term for this, its where youll get caught on corners of walls or computer consoles or whatever. Its quite frustrating. I was definitely ready for the game to end long before it actually did. It was a real shame. There were also many times where the camera was stuck at an awkward angle and Id get killed in some silly fashion because of it. Though it only happened once I also experienced a bug in which I got stuck on a corner and had to reload my game. It only put me back a minute or two because at this point I was saving constantly.

I think, having watched the original on youtube which was 2d and blocky, with this trilogy, mainly the final game, they failed to properly render it in 3d and I was left disappointed.

The first two games Id give a decent 7.5 but the last one left a sour taste in my mouth. Overall I would tell people to avoid this trilogy unless they are really into the Alien Breed archetype. Normally Id post a review thread or something but this is a title that always had middling reviews and I dont think anyone would care to discuss it. I stand by my previous statement. Rush through this trilogy and play play on veteran at the minimum or you will get board.

I'm going through The Wolf Among Us now. Just finished chapter 1. Pretty good so far, I only have TWD 1 and 2 to compare it to.

I beat Outlast yesterday. I don't really feel like reviewing it since ultimately I'll just be parroting the reviewers. yes its a great game yes its scary as fuck and you should suck it up and go play it.

Ive probably owned outlast for a couple years now but had been avoiding it. I already don't like being jump scared, and outlast is almost solely responsible for starting the Youtuber jump scare reaction plague thats ruined youtube. If a game is monumentally popular I will usually avoid it. Its not so much being a Hipster as its just overstimulation. If you talk about fallout 4 nonstop all day everyday I'm gonna tell you to please shut the fuck up and it'll be years before I get around to playing it. Same reason I skipped force awakens opening weekend.

Thankfully I hunkered down with an enormous amount of alcohol to calm my nerves and really give Outlast at least an hour to sell. I'm glad I stuck with it. I ended up playing through the night with no remorse. After you get past the initial jump scares it turns into a true survival horror game with some mystery elements. It ends up sharing more in common with Clive Barkers Undying and FEAR than it does Five nights at freddies. It steals a lot of good elements from The Collector and REC. At one point it takes it to a point in torture I didnt think they'd allow in gaming and you actually think youre going to die. Its a really really dark game tonally. The ending is a bit too reminiscent of something thats been done before but its ultimately very satisfying. As soon as I beat the game I immediately bought the Whistleblower expansion because I just wanted more and its $2 right now on steam.

I'm enjoying the expansion mostly but it does clearly suffer from expansion disease where you start to feel like youre doing too much of the same old shit only with weaker more flawed design. I gotta stop getting suckered into DLC. Hopefully the story really makes up for it in the way the reviewers are claiming.

I beat Dragon Age II today. I gave in and got the single player DLCs for DA:I during the holiday. Now I'm hesitating what to do. Pick up my character from the original playtrough and use that in the DLCs, or start a completely new character from scratch. I need to do some inquires.

Played Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime and Lego Worlds all weekend with my daughters. Lego Worlds just absolutely destroys Minecraft IMO. It's still early access, but already it just adds an element of fun that while still retaining a lot of the engineering and Legoing type of things. They also seem to have thought about just about anything. The amount of things you can do and try, and then be surprised that you can actually do it is insane. Now as soon as they get net play (it's split-screen local and single only right now) this will be the de-facto building game I think. It's just got a level of polish even in the early state that makes it cool. Highly recommended. And it costs less than MC too. (really there is room for both, but I seriously lean toward Lego now)

Finished Rise of the Tomb Raider. 9/10.

Ready for this to hit PC. Is it a sequel to the earlier game, or is it a standalone? I don't think I ever beat Tomb Raider, and trying to decide if I need to go back and do that before I play the new one.

Not a direct sequel but worth boning the original first since you get to know more about the back story of the reboot Lara etc.

This one is a standalone game if you don't care about backstory and stuff.

Started ffxiv back up

Same here. I never made it far the first time I played it, so started a new character. Bought the expansion and giving it a try again. I'm on Cactuar now, but may end up transferring to Balmug or one of the other popular servers if I really get into the game.
